Another messy picture today - anyone could see a shower or a storm. Most likely areas for higher concentration is Sussex around to Norfolk, Wales and NW and Central Belt of Scotland.

Same again today - storms/heavy showers could be seen anywhere, with a couple of more concentrated areas:

A markedly cooler air this morning I notice. Feels autumnal, whereas last few days have felt more like a cool summers day.
Just started raining in MK (Stony Stratford side) Weather app says chance of storm has gone for lunchtime today but rain now for the next 24 hours, with a couple of hours break at midnight tonight.

Any forecast rain recently that should have lasted for hours has been an hour or two, then dried up, so we will see..
Are you reading that forecast correctly...? Current forecast is only for showers...

Deepest darkest West Berks, 30mins of torrential downpour and rolling thunder just finished. Side lane opposite house a full flowing river onto main lane and coloured like a landslide. It's now near blue skies, all four water butts over flowing and can physically hear the grass growing eek
That's just passed over us on the Reading/Oxon border. Lightning strikes very close by and thunder overhead. And yeah, my gutters and downpipes need clearing out...eek

Go to go out in the car in half an hour, looking forward to the blue skies following on!
Just starting here at TVP
There was flooding in Reading today.

No flooding in Burghfield Common - up on the hill hehe

Quieter day today, but still the chance of a heavy shower or even thunder. Good news is the low pressure that has been stuck near us is finally moving on to the East.

A couple of warmish days coming up early next week and some sunny spells later in the week (great, our solar panels go up on Tuesday!)

Had to put a jumper on to tend the BBQ this evening. It's just a little too chilly wandering in and out and leaving the door open.
Just wait until later in the week when high pressure anchors off Ireland and gives us a northerly... (sunny though!)

Weather warning for heavy rain from midnight to 11am, NW England and Wales, where I am (NW Leicestershire) we're due rain overnight and then BBC is saying 11am to 11pm...

Puggit, could it be the warning weather moving south?

I'm not convinced it'll happen, mind, with it saying light rain, but I know the BBC isn't the most reliable.
I honestly have no idea, as I live in the warmer, drier South, it didn't effect me at all and I had no clue hehe

I only get pinged for warnings in the SE - you lot get too many!

Snowlercoaster thread is lining up.

Of course, this just means a cool snap with snow on the Cairngorms, but it is the official starting position of the thread of 'hope getting smashed on the rocks'.

A reminder that many of us in the South only saw snow in Autumn last time around, none in winter....

Personally I'm hoping for a crisp, sunny, dry winter so that our new solar panels increase their ROI...

Grew up in similar with only downstairs central heating. Upstairs it was woolly pyjamas, extra blankets and hot water bottles all winter. Sadly, my missus grew up in a concrete tower block in a communist country, where central heating was provided from massive neighbourhood furnaces and delivered to huge radiators in every apartment at near zero cost to the residents, with no individual thermostats in the apartments, so the heating was on full blast all winter at what must have been approaching 30 degrees. I have experienced these conditions myself and it is thoroughly unpleasant. I'd be happy at 17c indoors over winter, she demands 25c. I have developed extremely sneaky thermostat management skills, but she gets triggered when she feels the temp creep down to about 21.
I used to work for a company based in St Petersburg, Russia. The Holiday Inn was exactly like this. If your room didn't have a window that opened (-20 outside) you would have to go back to reception and change rooms!

Our draughty poorly uninsulated cottage in Aberdeenshire is generally kept at around 15c with the exception of the main living area which gets comfortably warm thanks to the woodburner.

I really struggle when we go to stay with friends in stuffy new builds - one set of friends had the thermostat set permanently at 24 degrees and were still moping around under blankets. I was in beachwear and still melting. No wonder some folk have outrageous energy bills!
eek

Our new build is set to 19!

While it has snowed in the Cairngorms, it really wasn't a lot - so I haven't started the winter thread.

Weather for tomorrow - minging. A proper Atlantic low pressure system, wet and windy. Slightly warmer than we've experienced this week.
