Exactly that. I don't understand the tin-foil hatters, worried about their shopping habits being 'abused'. Maybe they're worried that 'Big Milk' will inject their weekly supply of semi-skimmed with mind-controlling bots.
They monitor for those buying excess bacofoil, and then slip a covid vaccine into their bleach before they drink it.I’ve said it previously, if the loons who are paranoid about being tracked knew just what was tracked currently with respect to their shopping habits I think their head would explode.

The UK has seen nothing yet in terms of food prices IMO. At least you have reasonable competition still.
My French neighbour swears the UK has been dirt cheap for food for as long as he’s lived here and this just brings it more inline with other countries. He right?I do like the Big Mac index. But it’s not a useful measure on that question.

A bit off topic, but my local Tesco Extra recently closed its fresh fish counter, so now you can only buy the limited selection of prepacked fish. I thought maybe it was closed for a refit but it appears to be permanent. Then I heard from my Dad that his Tesco 50 miles away had done the same. I suppose I should be patronising a proper fishmonger anyway...
Still on the go in ours but unfortunately that is the way of it. They cut back on the butcher section massively years ago so I wouldn't be surprised to see the same happen to the fish counter. It's already quite small.I do buy local via the local butcher but there are no fishmongers anywhere near me that I know of. There's a wholesale option as we're in driving distance of a fishing harbour. I wouldn't eat enough to bulk buy though.

Agreed, the yo sushi counter is expensive and rubbish.
I never ever shopped at the meat and fish counters, I always assumed that it was the same as the pre-packed stuff on the shelf, but laid out nicely and with a premium added.
Your assumption is entirely correct. I've seen it with my own eyes, "butchers" in supermarkets opening pre-packed burgers, for example, and using them to restock their display. Good for folk buying smaller quantities than are available pre-packed though. I've noticed that Co-op (blue and grey and not East of England group) also have different prices for Co-op card and non-card members.
What's the problem? They are offering you a discount if you remain loyal, allow them to process your data and buy that product as a card member. Sometimes you will buy that product anyway, sometimes not. Yes you have to give data, but how much do you really need to give? You could make up a name and address: Mr Michael Mouse, 123 High Street, Anytown and use an email address especially set up for the Clubcard application.

As an aside, I've a pizza oven, I'd thoroughly recommend learning and doing your own. PITA job at some times and can go wrong but on the good days it's worth it and they happen more often than the bad days.

Two weeks ago a pack of 8 penguin biscuits were £1.50
This week a pack of Penguin biscuits is £1.50 or £1.00 on Clubcard. Except this week there are only 7 in a pack.....
Yeah, but Penguins are the poorest attempt at a chocolate biscuit ever. The chocolate melts in the wrapper, meaning that you have to eat the biscuit then stick your tongue inside the wrapper to avail of the melted chocolate. This week a pack of Penguin biscuits is £1.50 or £1.00 on Clubcard. Except this week there are only 7 in a pack.....
I'd rather have a Trio.

P-p pickup a penguin. I haven’t eaten one in years. This week a pack of Penguin biscuits is £1.50 or £1.00 on Clubcard. Except this week there are only 7 in a pack.....
Polo mints are where I’ve noticed most shrinkage. They’ve just given up now and upped the price.
Anyone who eats a trio without trying to get the chocolate off first? Hmm, there are probably worse crimes but you’re committing one.
