I think my memories of late March each year is corrupted by early March, I feel like we often get a st first week, so-so second and then the second half of the month can be pretty good.
Forecast for SW London looking positively uninspiring...

I'd like to draw your attention to the wind speed on Monday which may mean sideways driving rain smile

I have dodged the snow this week due to being on holiday. However, tomorrow I am flying back from Fuerteventura to Birmingham. I’m then driving home to Chesterfield.

I’ll be driving a 4WD SUV shod with decent all seasons on. I trust the snow on the motorway will be clear and the worst on a roads would’ve melted. Is that a correct assumption?

I’m due to land late afternoon / evening so I think the worst would’ve melted by tomorrow evening.

Edited to add; Gratuitous photo from Fuerteventura!

Spent Thursday night in Greg’s hut on the Pennine way. It was a pretty wild hike in but very much worth it.

Roads home were clear but only just!

Back at home in Durham dales area. lovely conditions.

And..... it is melting faster than who I thought was Mr Bronson from Grange Hill but wasn't. Mr Bronson from Grange Hill was in the Empire Strikes Back and didn't melt but suffered some asphyxiation, and iwasn't Herr Flick either.

That guy played the Baby Eating Bishop of Bath and Wells in Blackadder II. A slightly less unpleasant character than Mr Bronson... wink
Ronald Lacey, when he wasn't being that 'orrible little nerk in Porridge or being shot by a KGB guard in Firefox he was being the father of Rebecca.

Lovely morning on the moors above Halifax.
Some deep drifts in places and then others there’s nothing.
More forecast tonight but then warmer tomorrow.
At least all the reservoirs look full!

Couldn't hold a candle to Baxter, the PE teacher. Terrifying bloke.

Some stunning pictures above from those nutters who live and frequent the proper hills.

Gad, you are a proper nutter, and I mean that in the nicest possible way!

Chesterfield'ish -

Got very cold last night and what had half melted quickly turned to ice. It was really quite dangerous when I took the dog out, but not as dangerous as spending the night in a stone hut up on the moors.

Today it is melting a bit more, but is cloudy and also spitting with yet more snow! whistle

Made it through Chesterfield this morning at 9am ish. Lot of snow piles up at the sides of the roads! Snake Pass was still closed but managed to turn off towards Fairholmes and found some parking (that road was bloody icy, but I managed OK).

Roads themselves were mostly fine. Had a good walk up around Alport castles. Glad I had my gaiters as the snow was knee deep in places - and I'm a shade under 6ft 5.
