I’m already 15m up on you up here in Scotland! Our everlasting spring and summer evenings almost make up for the dark midwinters! Almost ….

Gorgeous morning here in County Durham. Sadly the forecast is not looking so promising for the foreseeable future.

Sun's here on the Reading/Oxfordshire border today, and mid-teens in terms of degrees C. Very pleasant day. Doubt it'll last...

Forecast looks terrible at a high level, but we've had lovely sunny spells in Berkshire. Solar panels have been hitting peak capacity for first time this year during the week (3.8kW).

This worked; 22nd snowfall of the season. Actually barely worthy of the name, and hardly worth mentioning compared to what the UK received recently; a light dusting on grassy areas. Too warm to settle on roads. Despite it now being -4c.

And if the news recently wasn’t gloomy enough, it seems more is output every day.

We all know February was dryer than normal, but to drought risk level?

Don't know why people are so keen to move from a very average winter to April's continual wet and changeable nothingness. Hardly as if we've lived under a blanket of snow for the last 5 months here in the UK.

Because on the whole it will be warmer and there will be a greater chance of days with sun, warmth and no rain.

Unless you go to bed at 5 the day hasn't ended, has it? Beats me why on a snow thread people moan about wanting warmer weather when initially most moaned about wanting snow, and why do people assume everyone prefers summer to winter? I like all seasons equally, just the dull stuff in between is tedious.

What this dull stuff that’s between the seasons?

Rain, cloud, middling temps neither warm nor cold is pretty dull, no?

It's stories like this that makes me question the motives of those pushing these sorts of headlines.

We all know February was dry, however this followed a wet January. And the first half of March has been very wet, with more rain in the forecast almost every day for the rest of the month.
