And it begins. Light snow, settling on houses and grassy areas. Air temp is above freezing so I can't see it lasting for long.
It snowed pretty good up here overnight. I was wishing for warmer weather as I was out shoveling the driveway at just after 5am.

Roads and sidewalks were bone dry by 3p.m. Cold night, though!

21 degrees in London today and I've been wandering about outside in sunglasses, shorts and t-shirt. Amazing for this time if year!

Been blowing a hoolie overnight. Local weather station recorded 40+ knot winds with 60 knot gusts and the milkman hasn't turned up so I expect there's a tree down which will make the school run a PITA. rolleyes

Yes, a pretty wild night on the south coast, normally this level of wind would result in a 'named' storm, so may have caught people unaware.

Yep. Gosport here …… We need a new greenhouse but luckily the old destructed one was only a cheapo plastic cover over thin metal tubing.

Probably would be repairable (albeit on the IoW) if it were not for me securing to the ground etc.

Was out at midnight trying to save the garden covers etc. Was proper windy. But only casualty is a cheap greenhouse so not overly bothered.

There was a weather warning for the south coast smile

On that note - South and Midlands could see isolated tornado activity today...

No wind warning here at all, i've still got yesterday's forecast on the screen which predicted a max of 36mph and we saw a lot more than that, all the bin lids are blown open. The heavy rain was predicted though.
A weather station is on the Christmas list so we'll know in the future what exactly did happen.
Spookily we had the same weather event exactly a year ago today, as it's just come up on my FB timeline.

Those that follow my renovation thread will know i've been battling to make a leaky old house weathertight, i've uncovered decades of struggles that people have had with it before having a go myself at curing it over the period of a year. Last night was a good test as it's driving rain which is the issue.
I'm extremely happy to report we have no internal water features and no buckets were needed woohoo

Must admit I'm worried about the shed in my garden. I didn't have one yesterday.

Exceedingly heavy rain here in Fareham, thunder, lightning, the full works.
Luckily no leaks and all tiles in place after last nights winds.

We’ve had heavy rain and localised flooding today near Aberdeen, got a severe weather warning in place for the next couple of days.
Hopefully the power stays on!

Epic downpour just north of Reading yesterday around lunchtime, with added hailstones. Real proper job.

As usual it split around Burghfield irked

Wife went to Little London in the evening and reported remnants of hail still on the ground.

I went out and checked the cars for damage. It was that heavy. All well fortunately.

Retrogression is a new term to me in weather forecasting. Seems like the UK is going to experience the benefits of this over the next 7-14 days thus we are going to get above average temperatures.
