Shady chicken?
Good morning all.
I'm making a new lightweight water meter manhole cover sheathed in stainless steel.
The sheet of ss is from old stock and I can get the protective plastic off!
Doesn't stop me forming it etc but I want it looking all nice!
Fout.

Tesco's new customer interface procedure is working well. An assistant came and stood next to me for about a minute at the self-service checkout in complete silence. She just stood there as I scanned and packed. I have to say I was getting a bit uncomfortable. At last she spoke.
"Been shopping, then?"
I've no idea how I didn't laugh. How bizarre is that?
"Try to engage customers in conversation. It will help them feel loved and wanted."

There's a certain percentage of 'special' people the likes of Tesco have to employ Dicky."Been shopping, then?"

I'm not sure if you are 'woke' enough old bean.
Is woke the right word?
Morneve all!
A fine, yet breezy patrol completed and only minor incidents to report. Unknown wire-haired Terrier terrorising my companions elderly Gordon Setter plus the remains of a recently killed and half eaten Blackbird discovered in the Lower Paddock! Report ends...
IOTN: Following Magoo's reference to his shiny new stopcock pit cover plate, it triggered an unanswered question in ol' Pequod 'ead and I would appreciate a definitive answer?
Thus, what is the etymology of the word 'stopcock'? The 'stop' part is obvious but why do we refer to the valve as a 'cock'???

Morning Trivialisters.
Apologies for my absence of late, but I have been at a pretty low ebb these past few days, what with one thing and another and another and another.
And yes.... another as well.
And on top of all that, a fking nother.
To compound it all, whilst under considerable duress, I have stupidly managed to reverse off my drive into my neighbours' daughter's P&J.
I would dearly love it all to just go away.
At least I'm still alive and kicking ( for now ).
I sincerely hope that all of you lovely people are free from anything like this, and you are having a lovely weekend.
In the words of the famous bodybuilder turned actor turned Terminator: "I'll be bek".

It's called a "cock", because, just like the other thing, it is used to control the flow of a fluid. IOTN: Following Magoo's reference to his shiny new stopcock pit cover plate, it triggered an unanswered question in ol' Pequod 'ead and I would appreciate a definitive answer?

However, it doesn't involve male chickens. As a rule. Usually.
Under normal circumstances.
HTH.
P.S. Sorry I missed the TTFNQ.

All the best, glen. Have a bit of time to yourself. You know gr stands for Great Restern, don't you?
Indeed, let's hope things soon improve for glenners.Incidentally, on the way back from Yarmouth yesterday I was following a Toyota Yaris GR for a while. I did wonder what the GR spec was all about, maybe a 2.9 Cologne under the bonnet?
