Incidentally, on the way back from Yarmouth yesterday I was following a Toyota Yaris GR for a while. I did wonder what the GR spec was all about, maybe a 2.9 Cologne under the bonnet?
When ar were a lad, 4711 was the Cologne of choice.

I always thought of you as an Old Spice Aftershave sort of chap?

By the time I needed to shave every second or third day I gave up. I couldn't face the prospect of shaving every day. So what I have isn't a Beard, it's a Doesn't Shave. In other words, I don't wear a beard as a positive stance, I just don't shave. Scruffy fker, as my old dad used to say.

Must get on. Stuff to do before I venture out to collect granddaughter #2 from whatever it is she's doing.

Carry on along those lines.

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best
And
Always look on the bright side of life
Always look on the light side of life
If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle, that's the thing
And
Always look on the bright side of life

A little trivia about 4711....

Originally, it was produced as a health giving tonic, either swallowed neat or mixed with wine!

All the best, glen. Have a bit of time to yourself. You know gr stands for Great Restern, don't you?

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

The only Yaris I've had anything to do with has been Mrs Robbo's 1.0 vvti 3-cyl, purportedly able to chuck out a mighty 68PS at 6000rpm if it were ever to be revved that high.

However, I did work the old GR Spec magic on my sister's Kia Picanto "Sport 1 V6 Turbo" that she bought brand new under the government scrappage scheme. It has drawn many a perplexed gaze from incredulous people that should know better. biggrin

It has served her well. She doesn't hang about down the back lanes of Essexland. driving

I meant I can't get the protective film off.
I've fitted the cover now after having to grind some concrete away to make the hole squareish.

I tried to take a pic but the phone jiggery pokery thing ran out of electrickery. Charging it is.
Try a drop of cellulose thinners, or some nail varnish remover, Magoo.
If that doesn't shift it, try a drop of Battert's "Beerfarter" Old Trivton Gin ( Original Formulation ), but be sure to wear hazmat gauntlets and a full face respirator mask. Think "Safety" scratchchin

I presume some of Bomma's Tonkas were possibly GR spec?
ie Tornado GR4.

There will be one positive thing to look forward to tonight in the wee small hours: at least from 01:00 to 02:00hrs, all us insomniacs will have one less hour of missing sleep to endure... wink

Oh, lawks, the clocks go forward. Battert will be waking everyone up from here to Trivton Purlieu as he rotates the sundial by fifteen degrees. Two in the morning, the last Sunday of the month every March and October, you could set your watch by it. Such a stickler.

GR= Gazoo Racing, though quite why Gazoo is anyone's guess!!!

We are returned from Harewood house and a jolly fine time we had too!!!
The afternoon tea truly was delightful, gratuitous pic with Mrs Bobbers trying desperately not to be in the shot!!!

Harewood House looks grand Bobbers. Whilst you are there you could try Castle Howard, if you haven’t already.

Glenners - hope things turn around for you, I’m sure they will. Just think of those daffodils and bunny wunnies and Spring mornings.

Now there's a real slice of Opulence for you, right there! lick
And Decadence. biggrin

How the other half live with the hoi-palloi, eh?

Mind you, it's better to be depraved than deprived.

Glad you're both having a great time, Bobbers & Mrs Bobbers.
Save a Vanilla Slice and a Cream Horn for me.

scratchchin No, better not. Not with this dicky ticker
Just save me a Lobster Thermidor and smoke me a kipper. smile

It just occured to me: that GR Spec Yaris must have been going at a pharaoh lick to keep Oor Bomma in its' slipstream.
Unless it was in the queue for the Off Licence Counter round the back of the Tractor & Tailback.
