I don't want to sit until I'm 90 with people running around after me. I'm not one for sitting on the couch.

Very sad to hear. I was a big fan of his Sunday Radio 2 show.

Because of him, I can never listen to "I See the Moon" by The Stargazers or the "It's A Small World" song without laughing.

Just heard about Paul, very sad, seemed like a really nice chap.

67 not old these days, retirement age frown

To put a PH slant on this:

I've been procrastinating about blowing a lot of my savings on a Ducati that I test rode at the weekend.

Kept meaning to call the dealer with my deposit money then getting all 'sensible' and saying to myself that I'm being irresponsible.

I'm 60, had a heart attack at 46, so I'm going to go for it. After all, you can't take it with you.

Thanks Paul RIP

Very sad to hear, both myself and the wife enjoyed For the Love of Dogs, by all accounts he was a genuinely love person.

Croyde , go for it matey.
Take a look at the “enjoying retirement” thread for all the convincing you’ll need.

I wasn't a listener to Pauls shows - but whenever he was interviewed he came across as a genuinely lovely chap. Very sad that he should die so young.

Croyde - go for the Ducati. Carpe Diem and all that!

When debating whether to buy a Ducati, the answer is always 'yes'. smile

I first saw Paul's Lilly Savage act in a pub in the late '80s. Not a fan of drag, but he was genuinely funny. This was just before the character first appeared on TV in The Bill. Over the years he's shown himself to be a lovely chap with a good heart.

RIP

Heard about Paul O'Grady on the way into work this morning, genuinely shocked at the news, didn't realise he was quite so old either.

He always came across as a genuinely decent person and his alter ego Lily Savage was painfully funny too

Maybe I should have put 'that old' instead, for some reason I thought he was in his 50's,

I disliked Lilly Savage but really like Paul O Grady. He had a cutting tongue and grasped the bad in life and the good.

He came across on radio and TV and as caring man who did not discuss his sexuality or try to dictate to others.

He had to have two operations on his heart in the past and knew he was not the healthiest man but never came across as wanting pity, it was just life.

So far all the people who are speaking tell of his warmth his humor and his humanity. Lets hope nothing comes out to change that view of him

That is sad, I met him a few years ago and he was lovely, my mum is a big fan of his and he said “aww, give ‘er a big hug from me” and gave us an autograph. He was a really tall bloke I recall. RIP.

Hardly any celebrity deaths even make me stop for a second, but this one did. As others say I really liked him, seemed such a nice, warm individual, funny and genuinely caring.

I remember seeing a few clips of him crying on shows about something sad, including the loss of one of his dogs.

Sad news, it was only announced last week that he was going back to radio presenting at Boom radio after leaving Radio 2 last year. He was going to start at Easter.

It was a shock to hear the news of the passing of Paul O'Grady .
He admitted in the past that his lifestyle had serious impact on his health as he had cardiac problems .
Fairly local to us down here in East Kent he lived a quiet rural life away from the spotlight with his partner.
A very talented entertainer and presenter ,he also did a significant amount supporting our armed forces.
He wore a suit probably better than most , usually a classic three piece.
A true animal lover .
RIP to one of the people's favourites.
