Another one who is very sad to learn of his death. Never been a major fan but he's done a lot of varied work (always excellently) and his work with animals has been truly wonderful.
There can't be many with his range of talents.
RIP

You are so right! Deposit placed a few minutes ago.

Guess I have Paul to thank smile
What a great treat. Financially you may regret it in the future, but at least it’s a fun way to have regrets.

Get the matching leathers too while you’re feeling frivolous!
Do it! Regret nothing!
(Even if it does turn out to have been a huge mistake.)

All in their 60s, 65 the oldest, I'm 60.

A few acquaintances of mine have died in their 60s and some of my pals have terminal illnesses.

I know at 60, one could easily have another 20 to 30 years left but it's getting a little concerning and I'm trying to think in the now instead of planning for the future and having a boring time getting there.

I'm taking this thread off topic, where's this retirement thread smile

Those ages are scary and my old man went at 68 too so it’s time I packed it all in .

He ran me off the road on a little Kent country lane coming towards me driving his pink Mini...apart from that he was a nice person IMO.

Always been a Ducati fan and had a couple .
Oh how I wish I still owned them!

What model have you gone for ?
The cheapest, I think smile

Monster 937, been looking at BMW R1200GS and Triumph Explorer 1200 for the comfort and luggage options but got a test ride on the Ducati and had an absolute blast, put a smile on my face, despite the wind blast hehe

Back on topic, but not celeb, in work today and 2 co workers lost their dads this week and another, their brother in law. All heart attacks, all around my age frown

I had one in 2009, had a bad bike crash in 2003 and had given up biking after doing 26 years.

3 months after leaving hospital in 2009 I walked into a dealers and got back on a motorcycle.
Not one for naming vehicles but that one should perhaps be called Lilly smile

Always liked Paul O Grady, very easy to listen to but definitely not soft, Lilly Savage was just that on occasion.

I think the older generations will really fell it, get the impression he was well regarded by most, but especially those older than him, my parents arent that much older but always mention his dog programme and a lot of the correspondents to his programmes tended to be older again.

Lost a national treasure there I think.

And another got by cancer.

I see nobody has mentioned Keith Reid (not even in the Music thread) unless I've missed it?
Cancer got him at 76 last week but his death was only confirmed yesterday.

If you're wondering Keith 'who', he was the lyricist and a founding member of the band Procol Harum.
It was he who penned the song 'Whiter Shade of Pale' and people have been curious to the song's lyrics ever since it was released in 1967. One of the first singles I bought that was copied onto a cassette so I could play it in my car after passing my test.

Keith always said he would 'explain' the enigmatic lyrics which started with 'We skipped the light fandango...' have puzzled people ever since as to what it all meant, near the end of his life.
Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance and died suddenly.
Deserves the vid with lyrics even though it says 'a', instead of 'the' light fandango.

I seem to remember them being asked, for many years, what the lyrics were about... even they didn’t know.

They didn't. Only Keith knew as he wrote it. Now nobody will ever know. But one can guess!

That's true of a lot of lyrics. I've even head stories of people going through books to find interesting phrases ... then putting them down on the back of an envelope in the van on the way to the recording session.

Bowie used to chop up documents into single words, chuck them on the floor and see what sentences he could form from them.
A lot of lyrics make no sense when you try and analyse them, but they sound great in a well put together song.

Very sad news; a pioneer of Japanese electronic music.
I discovered YMO in 1979 and absolutely love their music, they were in the right place and time to get all the latest Japanese electronic digital controlled analogue hardware from the manufacturers and they used it well.

RIP
