earned I think
I think only fans is a massive market anyway and that some of its users also do the odd private meet. I suppose I mean that the boundaries get blurred with some women.

It's perhaps a grim manner in which to address the OP's question, but in reviving the cold case of Dr. Brenda Page's murder by her husband in the 1970s, the article refers to her having supplemented her income by being an escort:

BBC News said:
Dr Page started a second job as an escort after answering a newspaper advert in 1976, meeting oil industry workers to earn extra cash.

Mrs Ling said she thought her sister had been "quite hard up" but was earning "good money".

She said Dr Page loved going out to nice restaurants and meeting people, and that when she voiced concerns her sister had told her she was being old-fashioned.
So I would describe the late Dr Page as having the profile of a high class escort, one who is first and foremost an educated last, fit and looking for income/excitement/carnal pleasure and self-determination.

High Class is perhaps a misnomer:

- Will not stand out as a prostitute, someone being paid for sex (say)
- Related to the above, can partake in a suitable conversation and not embarrass the client at [list social events here]
- Are not an obvious junkie
- Are clean and dress suitably for the occasion
- Cost a lot biggrin

They are selling their time, and sex. The latter maybe not always, but that's the case at the cheaper end of the market too.

There's a grey area when a 'high-class' escort services only one client and becomes his mistress/wife biggrin. Blurred edges where there's a lot of money involved I'd say.

A podcast-type interview came up on my Youtube feed. A bunch of blokes interviewing an OnlyFans superstar. She was earning seven figures a year allegedly. I'm sure there was some exaggeration but even if she was doubling the number, it's very lucrative at the top. She was very pretty but not stunning. She also clearly worked at it like a 9-5 job, ensuring that there was new content all the time to keep her at the top of the rankings. Ranking (yes, with an "r") did seem to be the key. The top few make a disproportionate share of the money.

I'm fairly certain that I've seen all these 'jokes' on the various volumes of the Sean Connery thread over the last couple of decades: what makes them inappropriate now?

I was wondering the same. Also why was the thread on "shaky ground"?

Maybe it's not the 'inappropriate' so much as the 'off topic'!

I wonder how many commenting on this thread have actually paid an escort for sex.

My post was deleted and it wasn't even a "joke". Just pointing out sarcastically that we have had a lot, some repeated. Maybe I should put something in brackets next time for context.

Haha, certainly plenty seem to have bumped into/met socially/did some work for/brother’s sister’s mate/etc. etc.

Plenty, would indeed be my guess (and no judgement here!)

Not me, but a mate used to regularly. Out drinking in Manchester, pick up a prossie in a club, go to her place, back home in bed to wake up next to the girlfriend on Sunday morning. He gave her the clap once and had to fess up to what he'd been up to. She's a nurse and couldn't be fooled by his lies so a particularly rocky patch followed. Pleasant chap.

Oops OP states "high class", apologies. hehe

I'm not going to do the research at work but a cursory google of "top earners on OF" throws up some remarkable numbers - multi-millions. 100,000 subscribers at £2 a month adds up. I did see a link that suggests the average OF content provider earns £150 a month.

A woman who lives near me has had quite a bit of press coverage recently for being able to buy a house outright with no mortgage and a Porsche 911.
The downside is she's getting nailed on camera by other blokes.

I'm not sure I see a downside there.
