I would also argue a lot of the men hiring escorts do it as a status symbol akin to an expensive suit, watch or car. Once they had been seen with a stunning women on their yacht or social event the high is achieved and more than likely never actually sleep with them.. just send them on their way with a Birkin bag.

If I had paid that instead of getting married it would have saved me a fortune and been less of a ballache.

The expression used was that you are paying them “for companionship, anything else that happens is whatever because consenting adults” blah blah. I can’t remember the wording.

Is it any different to cruise ship staff that cozy up with rich passengers ?
Years ago a mate from school did it and got treated very well by his passengers .
Living on his tips and perks while banking his wages . Often had lay overs in holiday ports in USA and got lots of presents from rich widows and divorced middle aged women.
Really fell on his feet when he married a really attractive older lady that had huge divorce settlement, classically she had a heart attack and left him a fortune.
Sadly he died when he got mugged in Miami a couple of years later .

Supposed to be a James Goldsmith quote and I've always heard it as "If it flies, floats or f*cks, rent it - don't buy it"

I have read the "The Intimate Adventures of a London Call Girl" whose author was later outed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brooke_Magnanti

It gave a surprisingly mundane view of the profession.

I used to work the door of a couple of Soho pubs that had working girls on tap if lap dances etc were required and got to know some of the girls well, they earned well but weren't really high class but they all spoke about what high class girls could earn.

Fast forward 20 years and a friend of mine got into trouble meeting high class escorts from website Cherry girls..

£2000 per month was the norm and sometimes that for a 24hr date soon got him into dire financial problems.
He told me he had blown over £40k in just a couple of years....

The loneliness crisis mean many men will pay it even if they can't afford it and it doesn't solve their 'loneliness' issue.

If I was wealthy enough to be able to pay for 'high class/cost escorts' I would be spending it on better things than flange.

Years ago, I worked near Shoreditch and frequented a few of the local strip pubs with mates after work. I got to know a few of the dancers (and am still in touch with some).

Some of them did 'private' events, which were 4 or 5 girls in a flat giving full contact (and maybe more) lap dances to guys. Not at all 'high class' territory (or loneliness), but I did pick up the gossip about one punter who was very generous with gifts to his favourites - like laptops, mobile phones, helping with rent payments, etc. I got to know his name and also the news that he had left the scene abruptly.

A quick search on his name revealed that he was (or rather, had been) a lawyer and had been discovered to have been taking money from client accounts to fund his 'hobby'. He'd ended up in prison for stealing over £220k. He was divorced from his wife (and mother of three) shortly afterwards.

I've just looked his name up again, and the court case was reported 15 years ago! Where does the time go?

He likes boy spanners. Nothing wrong with that. I’m sure there are plenty of expensive male prostitutes too. They have diamond rings.

Not really ideal for that line of work...
