I’m reading a book about a ww1 escape and it’s done by tricking the guards using magic and a Ouija board
True story: it’s the confidence men by Margaret fox.
Boards came about with the rise of spiritualism and theatre magic, tricks and the ability to make money from the public.
A manufacturer came up with the board, mass produced them and made a fortune
The ww1, millions dying, they also gained popularity as people wanted to communicate.
Of course it’s all absolute nonsense. You just need a hook, a vulnerability, a way in to lead your victim down the route they want ti hear . The books a good read.

The water companies were bked by OFWAT back in 2017 and told to ‘stop wasting customers money on medieval witchcraft‘ after a scientist got most of them to publicly admit that ‘some’ of their engineers still attempted to use divining rods on occasion, and this prompted a public backlash and a kick up the arse from OFWAT.
Almost all of them changed company policies to rid their engineers and vans of rods.
I believe it is now only Thames Water to refuse to give up dowsing/divining completely and admit that some of their engineers still use the rods, despite their being absolutely no evidence that they do anything other than cause wasted time.
You better tell the three different UU teams who I watched use them last year and the guy I’m meeting tomorrow then. Shame none of the utilities people didn't claim James Randi's $1m prize while they could. Plenty of others tried.
I believe well over 1000 people tried!Lord Marylebone said:

I've never participated in a Ouija board but once many years ago a couple of friends made their own and used it that night. I can't believe they didnt know the answers to each others questions though.
However, during them using it some very strange things did occur in the room witnessed by others other than myself. At the time it was extremely unnerving.
Having said that, they were part of a small number of 'unexplainable' things that have happened to me in my life. 90% of those other unexplainable things have turned out to have a totally rational explanation so i fully expect the occurrences that night to be the same.
I know about a couple of people who ended up with a sort of addiction to using a ouija board, i think that's where the 'danger' lies.
Why the spirit world would need a commercially manufactured board to communicate with the living is a somewhat laughable concept when you really think about it . Were they sitting there (floating there? lol ) thinking "finally! now someone in the earthly realm has created a communications board for profit, now at last we can have a chat with Dave's great nephew!"

Back in the ‘70s a friend turned up at my flat with a Ouija board and a Captain Beefheart L.P.
I can’t remember anything about the Ouija board experience so probably nothing happened whilst we did whatever we were supposed to do with it.
I do remember that my girlfriend and I disliked his music.
When the friend left ( with his board & LP) we saw him out of the room and along the adjoining corridor to the front door.
When we returned to the room, there had appeared a thick wavy sooty line about 2 metres long on the white wall above the length of my piano.
The next day we painted it out but you could still faintly make out where it was.
From that time onwards, the cat would often sit on the piano staring at the location of the black wavy line,
and sometimes sat in the hall staring up at the same place from the other side.
We didn’t believe it was anything to do with the Ouija board, so it must have been that the piano’s spirit also took offence at Captain Beefheart .
