Being excited when a McDonald's opened in the town and then going in and asking for chips and them responding "do you mean French fries?" Them then turning up hot and covered in salt
Going to the arcade in Longton at a weekend on my KH100 to hang around with the others on various L plated small 2 strokes, dreaming of owning an RG125, everyone in awe of the guy on the yellow RD350lc with bean can Microns (the tiny cans, stupidly loud)
Going to block buster on a Friday

I'm not sure what the drink was but the bottles had a lethal ring-pull opening like this:
Also, freshen-up chewing gum with a liquid centre
An earlier version of the ring-pull can had the ring & tab detach from the can, and you could use the tab to flick the ring-pull at your mates. Also, freshen-up chewing gum with a liquid centre
Not seen for many years.
Top of the Pops LP's, usually with an image of a young lady in a swimsuit of some sort
And talking of which
Custom Car and Superbike magazine, always having a semi naked young lady in the centre pages

Going to the video rental shop.
Manual tilt & slide sunroofs.
I used to love going to the video shop as well. You always struggled to get a copy of the brand new releases from what I remember. Manual tilt & slide sunroofs.
Me and my sister used to love going to Blackpool for the illuminations, and we'd both stand up with our heads out of the sunroof to see them better. Ahh the days before health and safety! I also remember legally not having to wear a seatbelt too.
Smoking sections on an aircraft. I can vividly remember being sat back there next to my step-father, behind the curtain (which was of course all that was needed to seperate the smoke from the non-smoking area) and the ashtrays actually being used.
Getting a square-ial (BSB)
Going to the shops and weighing up the choice of bright orange or luminous green shell suits.
Turning the TV off at the wall (my Nan did this until her dying day)
Findus Crispy Pancakes.

Not being a smoker myself, I never liked it when I got given a seat near the rear of the plane back then. There wasn't even a curtain on the planes I went on either. This thread has been ace for bringing back loads of memories for me for definite.

Trawling through the pages of Autotrader dreaming about your first car.
I found an old Thames Valley Autotrader in the loft last winter. Looking at it now I wonder how I ever managed to buy anything with such tiny adverts and a single B&W photo, but like you I'd spend hours pouring over it looking for a bargain.Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
