I've sold off all my unwanted PC equipment on ebay, so far no problem. the last item I listed sold on Saturday morning for £72, it was a last minute bid by someone with 100% feedback but there were several other bids for slightly less. But up to now the buyer hasn't paid but has sent a message saying they will go to the bank on Monday morning.

Firstly why would I be interested in her banking habits and why bid on an item and then not pay. She was around for the closing seconds on ebay to make the bid so would have known they won at the time. If I sold it privately and the buyer said they'd turn up at 7PM to collect it by 7.05 I'd be free to do what I wanted with it if they didn't turn up on time but with ebay I'm now in limbo. I used an action knowing I'd get lower prices than normal but accepted this to dispose of the stuff fast and get it out of the way, this bh is getting the best of both worlds, effectively getting things put on hold for her until she decides what to do.

Surely people that mess around like this should have their accounts terminated, they think its there just for their convenience. I've only go today off work to post the thing, that's why I engineered it to end on Saturday morning. Can I just cancel the bid now and contact the next highest bidder?

The ebay T&Cs say they have four days to pay, so ending Sat am only guarantees payment Weds evening. Leave as is, and make sure you also have eccentric posting habits.

There is no longer any way to complain about this on eBay. Buyers can now only get Positive feedback, hence their 100% score. We've just had an iPhone sale do the same thing. You can't raise a case against a Buyer. I always thought auctions were legally binding contracts, eBay think otherwise. Only option was to relist it.

So a buyer could quite literally scam you for everything you've got and you can still only leave them positive feedback? The only reason I didn't list them on Gumtree was I didn't want 500 texts saying "best price mate" but still got similar on ebay anyway. Think I'll just tip anything else I din't want from now on.

Don't know what I can do about the post office situation, if I work 8-4 and 8-12 on a Saturday but the post office is only open 9-4 mon to sat there isn't much I can do. I'm not taking a day off work to lose more than the item is worth, that would be madness.

Think you need to calm down a bit.

I had similar a few weeks ago.

Just wait the 4 days then you can either cancel the sale and get your fees refunded or alternatively offer it to the next highest bidder.

I am calm, I'm always calm but can still get annoyed, like I said in another thread, you have to engage with idiots in every aspect of life now, most of them are only interested in themselves no matter what the consequences for anyone else, I can see why people do flip their lid at the incompetence of others.

Payment by bank transfer favours you - as EBay has no recall.
Many can’t bank via internet so have to physically visit a Branch to transfer funds. None of that is unusual.
Not using EBay’s service means you won’t be charged transaction fees, and post event, might then choose to cancel- denying EBay anything as they’d be obliged to refund costs incurred.
So, frankly, her delay could/ does work to your advantage.

I expect she’s transferred, as she said she would, & then told EBay she’s paid you. Straightforward- and acted as she promised

How does that work though, ebay tells me that its paid for and says the payout is processing, I usually get it a couple of days later normally, surely she has paid the money to ebay and not directly to me, she wouldn't have my banking details anyway, its ebay that are telling me to dispatch it now.

What would you call someone that messes you around, you don't need to by a psycho to slag someone off.

I run a pretty active eBay store and don't expect people to pay immediately anymore. They have days to pay now, so it's not like they have to sort it there and then unless you specify it. Just to add in the 1000's of things I've sold over the years (15 years+) I've only ever had 2 non-payers.

Now I'm not so calm. I can finally get rid of the last two boxes in my hallway, I've stuck the labels on and I know that the post office shuts for lunch, just gone on google to see whether its 12-1 or 1-2 and it turns out it doesn't even open on Mondays at all. You could park right outside the one I wanted to go to, now it looks like I'm going to have to traipse across town in the rain with a big box under each arm.

Landfill next time.

So the person has done as they promised, you're now branding them a 'messer' and slinging insults around - what a lovely person you are rofl

Thread titled "Ebay non payer" - person has now paid, thread can be closed tbf.

Not sure why your so annoyed. She won the item, said she’d go the bank Monday morning and sort payment out, she has done and paid as she said she would. What’s the issue?
Just need a little patience sometimes.
I once had someone want an item I’d listed as collection only as it wasn’t worth much but heavy and bulky. I told them no as I’m in Liverpool and they were in London. They asked about a courier and I told them only if they will collect at weekends or evening. They came back and said only daytime so I again said no as I wasn’t prepared to take a day off work for a £15 item. So when the auction was ending they bid and won the item and paid straight away. They then messaged saying I need to post. Because I refused to post or wait in all day for a courier he cancelled the order and I had to refund, he left negative feedback saying I was unhelpful and a terrible seller. I tried to get eBay to remove the feedback and they said they couldn’t as my argument didn’t stand.
I still use eBay as it’s a good place to sell some stuff but it isn’t without its issues.
