Greenhill and Faraway Joinery.
Many years ago I and a few friends fitted a new kitchen for a mate as his wedding present.

We put up a sign in his front garden which read

"Bodget, Screwem and Scarper
Bulders"

and had three good enquiries from people wanting quotes for kitchens to be installed.

Wow what a treat that private dining was last night. Sublime food all served up by a lovely chap who told us all about his Master Chef experience. I do have a thumping head today as we got through a different bottle of wine every course, there was 4.

I’m pleased to announce it’s sunny here today perfect for my 12:28 tee off. I’m having a decorating rest day.

Working day here today. Good morning everyone. New front rubber going onto the traffic Trafic this morning. This means Magoo and Mavis rdving with Madame M at the rubber shop in between here various bus routes. She has a bus load of little people to drop off at the local flea pit during the rubber mounting. Magoo has to walk agent M in between fetching Madame M between bus depot and rubber shop.
And it’s huzzing down and forecast all day.
Full waterproofing will be needed.
The F1 pit crews can swap slicks to full wets in approx 2.4 secs, Magoo, so you shouldn't have any problems.
Unless you are thinking of changing your rubber at the type of emporium that Bobbers and our Almighty Lord Scrump use for their Scrungeon based activities.
If this is the case, please apply a blindfold to Agent M, who shouldn't be subjected to such unusual sights.

Gude Moaneve Good Friday Trivsters! The first set of binmen've bin and emptied the Black bins at a considerably fast pace. They are obviously intent on finishing their round at twice the normal speed in half the time, so enabling them to be in the Flying Cockroach* by midday.

* The pub for non-recycleables was formally known as "The Cock Inn", renamed "The Flying Coach" after an expensive revamp, but is now affectionately called "The Flying Cock".
Dogs Welcome.

It’s overcast and rather blowy down here in that London.

I think it’s a stay in and play music day. I have just dug up an old DVD A entitled Songs For Miserable bds. Probably apt for Good Friday.

Have a good ‘un, one an’ all!

One of the final jobs in the refurbishment of Mrs C's SLK is scheduled for today. The world's most leisurely refurbishment, I should say. I'm going to see my friend Bradley who, as of 1st April, is leaving car mechanickinging behind to pursue welding as a career. It's a shame he can't do both, to my mind. He's a genius mechanic. Today we (mostly he) will be fitting the new springs and shock absorbers I bought yonks ago. He's out in the sticks, beyond the reach of radio frequency communication. So, I'm not blanking anyone, I'm at Bradley's.

Eh?

Ah, the Badlands, eh Snowy? Welcome to God's Country and the realm of Witches. wink

Sorry, but your Kia v Mazda relative consumption figures and fuel costs do not compute, unless the fuel pump price has dropped considerably since your last trip in the Kia.
However, as Byker says, your return journey should prove far more ecumenical, as it's all downhill and it's Easter.

Cuppa T and a not cross bun, anyone? smile

I can't remember the last time I saw a dog in a pub.

I used to take my old German Shepherd to the local, popped in there maybe once or twice a week we did.
The landlord kept a box of dog biscuits behind the bar for her, good sort he was.

Strangely enough, he left the area at about the same time as I did and now runs a pub in Norwich.

"Are you following me?"

"Of course I'm not. I thought you were following me"

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you

At the moment there's a kind of hush, but only yesterday he said he would be doing it

Perhaps he's waiting for trademen to turn up, they are so unreliable today. Trying to phone them in their van asking what thime they are turning up, calling occupants of intercarpentary craft

ok maybe that one was a little stretched biggrin being able to contact a craftsman...

Now the skies are all clouded over with rain expected imminently.

I may make a large batch of cream of carrot & coriander soup.
Aldi's Special Super Six this week includes fresh carrots for 15p per kg so it would be rude not to utilise them.

Wishing you all a spiffing long weekend.
Oh dear, the toddler could be entertaining, but the dog will be therapy embodied.

GOOOOOOOOOD MAAWNINGGGGGG TRIVETNAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!

I awoke bright and surly this morning, decided to get some early steppage in, as yesterday's weather didn't do anything to help boost my daily average. So, having breakfasted and griddled my lions, I sallied forth, armed with a numbrella and sunglasses, both of which I needed to use.

Funny stuff, weather.

Anyway, I have returned to find references to DIY and Carpenter-related puns aplenty, it's good to see everybody on good form. We've only just begun, indeed.

My Easter weekend will be spent mostly indoors. Gone are the days of the Easter Monday meetings at Thruxton, featuring a round of the European Formula 2 Championship, usually held with gale-force winds propelling horizontal rain.from all directiions. I can't remember the last time I went to Thruxton, I must find out what's lined up for this season. We never raced there with the Formula Vee, probably just as well, as Vees aren't well suited to long stretches of flat-out full-throttle running. Snetterton was bad enough, we fried two pistons there on the same day once.

Those were the days.

Anyway. Merry Easter, Trivs!

I think there were on the sane race meetings sometimes when we raced the Caterham with the 750MC. I loved the idea of the cheap single seater motorsport and it was always entertaining and competitive. Wasn't sure about those rear axle locating bars that ran up towards the drivers seat area as they seemed vulnerable to a tap

We had to use the standard swing-axle Beetle gearboxes, so some form of trailing arm suspension was needed to locate the outer end.

We also had to remember to swap the crownwheel and pinion over, or else we'd have one forward gear and four reverse.

Generally, the guys would be quite gentlemanly, and there was rarely any contact. Our car was nudged amidships by somebody making a rather ambitious overtaking move at Lydden once, and as we were using an aluminium monocoque (with a Reynard Formula Ford top body section) it cost a bit to repair. We also suffered from the engine in our car being a semi-stressed member, and as the air-cooled VW crankcase was two sections with a vertical join, it was inclined to weep oil, and needed regular re-torquing. Still, we had some good times, and some indescribably frustrating times as well. The 750MC guys were good people, and the paddock had a good atmosphere.

I was involved for about twelve years from around 1988. There was quite a bit of carbon fibre around the paddock when I packed it in, and Formula Vee was seen very much as a feeder series, a cost-effective way for young karters to get into single-seaters. Ash Sutton had some time in Vee, and several teams appeared, with young hotshoes doing "arrive and drive" deals to gain experience, and upgrade their licences. When were you around?
