I haven't got full lung capacity, and thats weird, get tired quickly but Mrs B points out thats because I've lost about 14lb now, which was about 10% of me... I was a little tubby anyway but...

Regular parrots eat em all seems to give a two hour window of feeling reasonable, whilst cough sweets keep the impression of a 100 fags a day old man down.

Trying to do little bits of exercise and resting lots. Have I mentioned I hate being ill frown

GOOOOOOOOOD MAAWNINGGGGGG TRIVETNAAAAAAAAAM!!!!!

I awoke bright and surly this morning, decided to get some early steppage in, as yesterday's weather didn't do anything to help boost my daily average. So, having breakfasted and griddled my lions, I sallied forth, armed with a numbrella and sunglasses, both of which I needed to use.

Funny stuff, weather.

Anyway, I have returned to find references to DIY and Carpenter-related puns aplenty, it's good to see everybody on good form. We've only just begun, indeed.

My Easter weekend will be spent mostly indoors. Gone are the days of the Easter Monday meetings at Thruxton, featuring a round of the European Formula 2 Championship, usually held with gale-force winds propelling horizontal rain.from all directiions. I can't remember the last time I went to Thruxton, I must find out what's lined up for this season. We never raced there with the Formula Vee, probably just as well, as Vees aren't well suited to long stretches of flat-out full-throttle running. Snetterton was bad enough, we fried two pistons there on the same day once.

Those were the days.

Anyway. Merry Easter, Trivs!
Sunday 9th June is the BTCC at Thruxton, myself and Scrump are going if you fancy it?
Bobbers! Don’t get in his camper van!
Repeat. Don’t get in his camper van!
yikes
Pphhheeeewww, thanks Magoo, I hadn't considered that!!!!

The last hour I've been mostly.... sorting out Mrs B who subscribed for £60 to duolingo but didn't mean to, which meant recovery of her apple id because she didn't know it, and then finding out Apple mail won't display BT Mail spam folder or many others. Seems Apple think you only need inbox, sent and deleted.
Which is why BT Mail have an Apple App for mail, so had to install that as well...
Then apply for a refund through apple, cancel the subscription on duolingo...

wavey from ooop narff* it seems swapoing 2l Kia for a 3.3Mazda was the way to go.
Driving ooop narff:
Kia average 38.6 and roughly £100 in diesel for the round trip
Mazda averaging 46.4 and roughly £50 in diesel for the round trip.

Eh?

Ah, the Badlands, eh Snowy? Welcome to God's Country and the realm of Witches. wink

Sorry, but your Kia v Mazda relative consumption figures and fuel costs do not compute, unless the fuel pump price has dropped considerably since your last trip in the Kia.
However, as Byker says, your return journey should prove far more ecumenical, as it's all downhill and it's Easter.

Cuppa T and a not cross bun, anyone? smile
Can’t argue with maths, the maths state the best the Kia ever managed was 38.6mpg on a long run, towing the caravan was at best 19mpg.

The Mazda is already way past that and i suspect when towing will be 25mpg

It was a strange one, he sounded perfectly normal, even upbeat and very lucid, he did however think that he's staying in a hotel and the staff are all some sort of performing troupe, he told me he'd spent the day before watching films in a lounge down the hall, the nurse told me he'd spent pretty much the whole day asleep.
They sedated him yesterday so they could do a scan of his stomach/bowels, it's being reviewed by both a consultant and the surgical team, although they've assured me that they won't be operating.

Bobbers, it's good to hear that your Dad sounds comfortable.
He's in the best place and in good hands.

Byker, all that Apple palaver & nonsense sounds like a rather time-consuming nightmare. frown

I've said it before & I'll say it again: Never trust a fruit!
GWS mate.

IOTN, My carrot & coriander soup has turned out well, except Mrs Robbo found it far too spicy for her taste.
I had added four (4) dried chilli peppers to zap it up a bit, but in retrospect, perhaps I should only have added two.
I did remove them, along with the three bay leaves after cooking, before I blitzed the whole lot.

Ah well, I still rate it at around 3 (Three ) Noms.
It's lovely with hot buttered pitta bread.

Are they going to paint them the same colour as before, Bobbers?
And replace your beautiful lilac shrub?
Restitution to the previous status?

Pity about next door's felt. He/she/they need(s) to cover that OSB roofing sharpish before the rain gets to it.

Oh, it's just a picture of Coral Bay old boy, sea and sand for the most part. Certainly no visible norks, sadly.

It could be anywhere really, might even pass for Skeggy if you squint hard enough.

It's a nice picture though, she likes it, anyhow.

There's plenty more where that came from, but I'm afraid that you'd all have drifted off long before I got to the sorry tale of the fateful day at Snetterton, when we managed to perforate two pistons on the same day.

Anyway. Thanks for mentioning the BTCC meeting at Thruxton, Bobbers, but I'm afraid that I lost interest in the series when they started to turn it into a sort of UK version of NASCAR, with replica bodies on tubular chassis, using (mostly) the same engine. I'll watch the occasional race on ITV4, but I'm mostly interested in the support races. The BTCC died for me after the 2-litre phase, when you could actually relate to the cars.

There is a rumour that the 750 Motor Club are allowed to have a meeting at Thruxton at some point this year, I might go along to that.

Meanwhile, as it's Friday, it's curry, beer and rugby this evening. Whatever you'r doing this weekend, enjoy yourselves as much as possible, and good health to all!

I think there were on the sane race meetings sometimes when we raced the Caterham with the 750MC. I loved the idea of the cheap single seater motorsport and it was always entertaining and competitive. Wasn't sure about those rear axle locating bars that ran up towards the drivers seat area as they seemed vulnerable to a tap
We had to use the standard swing-axle Beetle gearboxes, so some form of trailing arm suspension was needed to locate the outer end.

We also had to remember to swap the crownwheel and pinion over, or else we'd have one forward gear and four reverse.

Generally, the guys would be quite gentlemanly, and there was rarely any contact. Our car was nudged amidships by somebody making a rather ambitious overtaking move at Lydden once, and as we were using an aluminium monocoque (with a Reynard Formula Ford top body section) it cost a bit to repair. We also suffered from the engine in our car being a semi-stressed member, and as the air-cooled VW crankcase was two sections with a vertical join, it was inclined to weep oil, and needed regular re-torquing. Still, we had some good times, and some indescribably frustrating times as well. The 750MC guys were good people, and the paddock had a good atmosphere.

I was involved for about twelve years from around 1988. There was quite a bit of carbon fibre around the paddock when I packed it in, and Formula Vee was seen very much as a feeder series, a cost-effective way for young karters to get into single-seaters. Ash Sutton had some time in Vee, and several teams appeared, with young hotshoes doing "arrive and drive" deals to gain experience, and upgrade their licences. When were you around?

My owner/ driver used to always knock off mudguards...
Best/Worse day we had was at the Nurbergring f1 circuit. We'd gone to the long weekend classic festival, towed the Caterham behind an old Bedford motorhome at 50mph all the way, camped in the pit area, despite objection from the German female steward.

Did the practice laps, qualification, there was another practice lap session that I slipped in and drove part of.
Race day, huge field, mass start, driver gets a brilliant start, brakes late into the first corner having made 6-7 placed and all I saw was a cloud of smoke.
I thought he'd locked up, but he'd actually missed a gear, over revd the engine, crankshaft bolt unwound and everything hit everything.
The smoke was the entire engine detonating, and it literally was in multiple pieces...

So we ended up watching the racing the whole weekend, then trailered the bust car home. Brand new engine, whole new front end, cut the chassis weld in a new one etc
