Anyhow - some trivia about Antwerp

Antwerp claim to have invented the newspaper, Abraham Verhoeven of Antwerp begun publication of the Nieuwe Tijdingen in 1605.....

....Rainwater collected from the roof is used in the coffee bar

Splendid trivia!

Wouldn't old Abraham have found a bigger audience if anyone could have understood his (er) organ?

And that explains Belgian coffee. There are a lot of pigeons in Antwerp. And rain.
The Statue/Fountain in Grote Markt outside the old town hall

is of the mythical giant named Antigoon who lived by Scheldt river and demanded a toll from all those who crossed the river.
If anyone refused to pay, Antigoon would sever one of their hands and throw it into the river.

One day, Brabo, a brave young soldier, cut off the giant’s hand and tossed it in the river.

Hence the name Antwerpen was derived from Dutch words that mean “to throw a hand.”

If you wander up the the main shopping street (Meir) near Primart, the Giants hand is there as a statue..

So yesterday I sat down in the back yard to remove the rusted bottom of the broken washing line, after removing the spigot of rusted metal I went to get up and my back went!, today I am crawling around the house on my hands and knees!

My sympathies, fat boy.

Bobbers, your car is undergoing outside what you are indoors. It’s called solidarity.

Wet kichen towel, put on top and leave. Softens it all then comes off easy

Mrs B has gone out for an Italian meal tonight with her girly friends, so I've used up leftover salmon, with pasta, cream cheese, peas and a lot of black pepper, washed down with a glass of red.

I have just constructed an espresso martini for myself, great to have while I watch the sun set.

Thanks smile

I do limit myself to a single martini, more than one is a trifle unwise. The sunset is maturing nicely.

I've spent the day playing at Curborough sprint track, which is a lot of fun, but am now very worn out, and I don't think I've properly warmed up yet.
