Thanks both Error 404 and Byker.

I've said it before many times, this little thread is one of the most supportive groups I know of.
Well, at times it's a ridiculous diversion from what life throws at us.

So, Beauleau 24th. The first of the southern softies meets? I've rented the house out to ensure I can come/won't be in Wales
A little extreme, but possibly a good idea.
As for the meet up on the 24th February, I think the Southern Softies Saturday Beaulieu Meet Up is a grand plan!!!

I'm now caught up on the rugby, 2 very entertaining games and a great result for Scotland!!!

Even if there's no baton carrier for the rampages North of Altrincham, if there was a member prepared to hold them in the Greater Manchester area, they could be moved professionally from there.

I'm just talking out loud.
It appears my idea of a relay has been poo-poo'd by _404, preferring instead to engage a Shiply, or a Boatly possibly, maybe?

We'll see how it goes...
I could pick up the package from you, drop it at the safe house in Urmston and leave the key in the dead letterbox in Warrington.

Urmston?

I worked with a fella who was from Urmston, proper bloody hardcase he was. Built like an Oxo cube.

Don't know much about Warrington though. Didn't they build some sort of flyover there?

That's the flyover Bom mentioned, as seen from the old road.

Good morning, all.

'Tis grim down South, not helped by the weather - while out walking yesterday I received a phone call to say that my cousin Kate had passed away on Friday evening, having succumbed to cancer. She was younger than me, and is the third of "my" generation of the family to die, two were victims of cancer, the other basically drank himself to oblivion. We don't talk about him.

So the dismal weather just about reflects my demeanour right now. I'm going out for a walk, and then I think I'll go to see my son, who's at cricket training this morning.

Life, eh?

Good morrow fellow Trivialities everywherewavey
I haven't looked outside yet but it looks quite grey, hopefully it's dry enough for me to get a decent walk in.
Other than a couple of bits of DIY, honestly I'm not mimicking spikeyhead, we have nothing planned for the day!!

Stayed up late watching the last of Sick Week on YouTube last night, a street legal car on drag radials ran a record 6.26 second 1/4 mile!!!

Sorry to hear about your cousin Dermot O'Logical, life can be cruel.

Sorry to hear that DOL. it happens to all of us at sometime in life we loose loved ones. It’s all so fragile really. I find the most challenging bit is coping with unexpected reminders when they crop up after they have gone.

You’re not alone, we’re all with you.

But you're a lot closer to Islington than I am, Dicky.
Anyway, if the job involves the use of lap-tops, you can include me out.
For one thing, I'm not tech savvy,
and for another, I don't like the way those stiletto heels dig into my groinal area. nono

During the fire at Grenfell Tower, Khan kept getting himself interviewed to say politicians weren't doing enough. Overlook, if you can, that he is a politician, and focus on the history of London of which Khan is evidently not a student. During the Great Fire of London the Lord Mayor took responsibility and took charge. I'm aware things are more complicated now but the Lord Mayor in 1666 didn't strut around blaming others.

The Diary of Samuel Pepys is definitely worth a read.

Thanks for the recommendation Dicky. I've ordered a copy.

Didn't the Great Fire of London start in a bakery or some such?

I only ask as Battert's made a start on Sunday lunch, he's been over to the hangar looking for firelighters.
