We've had four days in Surrey this year so far when it hasn't rained at some point during the day.

Four days.
I went self employed in 2013 and immediately realised if you can make the most of any decent weather the winter isn’t so bad.

This winter has been the worst I can remember for lack of decent weather days, hardly any.

Another crap day weather wise down on the south coast, more of the same till Saturday.
Working outside Its been the most miserable 8 months or so of weather I can remember in the last 20 years of doing this job.

Last two days have really summed it up. Start off clear skies, sun is out, cool breeze, feels great. Then it pisses it down again.

Turned the TV off last night and thought whats that noise. Looked out the window, absolutely chucking it down.

Today is the same, 90% chance heavy rain at lunchtime.

Storm Nelson has been named - hitting the south coast (and France) tomorrow.

Brittany Ferries are cancelling ferries left, right and centre.

This is a long thread but when the weather is good/bad each year it's mostly to do with the jetstream being above us (so warmer weather comes up) or lower than us (so we get the crap weather.

I'm not sure if it has settled yet but do we know where it is/likely to be this year?

Yep, here in Surrey is pissed down last night. This morning was mild and sunny, enough to get the roof off the car for the 3 miles I drove it. Since then it's pissed down!

When I was a child, my parents sent me on an organised YHA cycling holiday on North Wales one summer. I got soaked. They made sympathetic noises, said North Wales is lovely - go again next year. I got even more soaked.

The hostel drying rooms were like a tropical rain forest the humidity was so high, and everybody had one goal, getting something dry to sleep in. Nobody cared about dry clothes for the next day, there was no point as it was only going to get soaked in the inevitable rain.

I hope you have a better experience.

The jetstream becomes weaker every summer as the temperature difference between the Arctic air and the eastern USA diminishes. As it weakens it tends to buckle more and head more north. Every year... around now!

I had a meeting with an Icelandic company today - they still have snow and are going skiing for Easter, in the sunshine... <sigh>

If you have one of these, I would say you should be optimistic:

I’ve been home from a holiday for 1 day and it’s been constant heavy rain almost that entire day. I’ve spent quite a lot of this time on Google Flights trying to find where to go soon. My new passport is going to get filled with stamps fast if this rain continues.

It’s belting down the white stuff all around the Plymouth suburbs but the city centre is still sodden.
