A chilly minus 5°c in the Scottish Borders this morning, but a lovely day.

Beautiful.

I drove through some fog like that last night. A very thin flat layer.

Felt like I was in Microsoft Flight Simulator from about 20 years ago it was eerie.

Just had the 36th anniversary of that. I know because my cousin was born during the storm and it was his birthday. I lived in Sussex at the time and we bore the brunt of it. Remember the roof tiles rattling on the house

I flew in from LA just a couple of hours behind the storm.

We pooh poohed suggestions that it was going to be a bad one.

However, on arrival it took our black cab three hours to get from Heathrow to Highgate.

There were trees down everywhere. I particularly remember a huge oak that had fallen and blocked the road outside Swiss Cottage tube station. There were dozens of trees down along the road by the Heath from Hampstead ponds all the way past the Spaniards and on to Highgate village.

Devastation everywhere.

Looks like winds will be mostly elevated off-shore. Rain is the issue with 4 days of warnings for eastern areas and SW Scotland.

Look at the size of it! Everyone will see wet spells and squally breezes at some point. Worst rain is likely to Aberdeenshire (bad flooding a real possibility). Flooding possible elsewhere all the way down to Norfolk.

You’re right…. Thank you!! I read this on the BBC today and didn’t question whether it was right or wrong but did begin to wonder how our neighbours northern side trees got flattened in Arwen. Other articles (government site) said Arwen was a northerly. Ok…. Slightly less worried now, ta! smile
still clearing up trees from arwen myself so hopefully this storm will not kbock more down-never ending job already!

Thank you for that Pug.

I'd lived and worked for over 50 years in the UK's tornado hotspot.......and never saw or heard of one. I was aware of the M4 Corridor being a hotspot between London and Reading, but didn't know it extended down to Guildford.

Local sailing club are getting edgy. A spring tide with Easterly gales blowing on shore and very low pressure... Even before the waves they're expecting a 3.5m tide when 2m is normal. Plus a massive amount of rain. Yay.

I have got some windows and doors to fit in Dundee on Thursday and Friday. The woman is adamant that she wants them done.
