WTF. My rubbish always goes in bags before being put in the bin!
Unfortunately no matter what we do, and what we put in our bins, ours are often used by tourists, day trippers and suchlike to drop off the remains of their picnics.

People dump their rubbish straight into the bin without bin bags? Isn't that just asking for all sorts of nastiness to grow in them.
Never cleaned my bins, if they get really dirty you could always just break it and ask the council for a new one smile
What are you putting in there that would go nasty?

Since we got a food waste bin about 8 years ago, and having a compost bin in the garden, there is nothing in my "normal" bin that would go nasty, it's just non-recyclable plastic, odds and ends and stuff like wrapping paper or envelopes. We probably only fill it up every six weeks or so (family of four, three-week collection).

We have 2 bins for waste, one for garden refuse and one for general waste, the garden waste goes straight in the bin and the household waste is of course in plastic bags, thought that was the norm.

Surely it's only the garden waste bins that get cleaned out or am i being a tramp, where's that council thread?
Do you not have a rycling bin. That's the one at our house I clean regularly
I'm a two bin man, one for garden waste and one for everything else.
How do you get all your rubbish in one bin? The non recycled bin only get emptied once a month round here. It'd be overflowing in no time if i didn't use the recycling bins.

I doubt all those Hojbjerg replica shirts take up much room.

A wheelie bin cleaner? Didn’t know that service existed. And don’t know why that should exist!
Our bins are only emptied once every 3 weeks. There are occasions (strikes etc) when it might drag to 4-5 weeks.

In the summer if you dont keep your bin clean it can go very nasty.

We clean ours every 3-4 months with power washer. I keep telling the mrs we need to buy better quality bin bags to help stop leakage etc but so far that suggestion has gone in file 13!!

Anyone who wears replica shirts should be tipped head first into the bin.

Oh you mean those stupid little individual bins, one for glass, one for paper so on and son on. No I don't do that and they make ideal storage containers for the garage.

I was put off using them when my local council first introduced them and I noticed that it all ended up mixed together on the back of a lorry, it's changed now I know.

Does that mean you send recyclable waste to landfill?

If so, to the Council thread for you!

I cannot for the life of me fathom why anyone would feel the need to clean a bin at all, never mind regularly. It's a bin, with rubbish in it.
Because some people will just chuck old food waste straight in. Come summer, flies will come visit and you will get maggots everywhere.. So they would need to clean it a fair bit.

But if you use litlte compost bags etc then the food is contained and doesn't spread all over the bin attacting the insects etc.

That's two more than we have. I feel as though I'm missing out on the whole cleaning / not cleaning the bin fun.

Have the house name on the bin, then no one takes the wrong one.

Yes, everything dirty gets at least a rinse before it goes in the recycling.

It's to make sure you don't get bin juice on your nice, regal new clothes.

Sending recyclable waste to landfill is the councils' job, isn't it?
