Cash games are better than tournaments, especially for a first timer. You can leave whenever you're bored and buy back in if you have a bad few rounds. Make sure you take advantage of the free soft drinks.

You will likely need to register, or you might get a couple of sessions before needing to.

I've been in one once, at the behest of a friend's brother, who was a member. My friend and I weren't at all interested in gambling so got drunk instead*. It was great!

I don't disagree. Having been in the hospitality business it always seemed to me that gaming amounted to little more than cutting a slot in the top of the bar into which punters put their money without the need to be served any food or drink in exchange.

All the modern gambling ad's emphasise "fun". I guess it all comes down to a question of what floats your boat. Nonetheless the facts of life when running any gambling business are that a small proportion of punters contribute a huge proportion of the profit.

ETA, although I did have an ex US marine permanent seat position wanting to fight me because he thought I made the wrong call in a blackjack game and fked up his hand. He was card counting but was so familiar to the casino they let him away with it. He can't have been very good at it. These are the things that happen when you play with real people rather than online.

Living in the US and working in software means I often end up in Vegas.

Almost all Black Jack games have someone that takes it way too seriously and aggressively accuses you of spoiling their game by 'taking their card' or indeed not taking a card which means they get a duff card you should have got etc...

Makes it not a lot of fun very quickly.
