I wouldn't say nearly 6000 Gaelic speakers in Glasgow is "nobody"!
According to Wikipedia 626,000 live in Glasgow itself, so less than 1% of Glasgow residents. If talking about greater Glasgow area of 1.2million it would be 0.5%

With Asians making up around 8% of Glasgows population it would be reasonable to assume Hindi or Urdu is spoken more than Gaelic.
Uggers makes a valid point. Perhaps signs should be in English, Scots, Hindi, Urdu and French? Given French was taught when I went to school in the 90s then I'd bet a large proportion of people who went through the Scottish education system speak basic French, certainly more than speak Gaelic.

Or, according to Wikipedia in 2011 there were 61,000 Polish living in Scotland, and only 57,375 Gaelic "speakers" so perhaps Polish should be on there too?

Then again, my ancestors arrived in the NE in longboats a few hundred years ago, so I'd quite like Norse on there too, just so I'm not left out.

I doubt there is anyone in the world who speaks only Scottish Gaelic, and therefore doesn't know what "Police" are.

It is a waste of time, effort, and money to put a dead language on everything. There are many other things it could be being spent on.

Yes but Gaelic is indigenous. It is at home. And not every Scot has cultural genocide in mind like James VI did - another one that also should have been sent home to think again! biggrin

Tard removal can be pretty painful - did you donate it to Science or keeping it in a jar?
