Oh yeah - I remember that.

He got quite upset. Poor chap.

Really? A polite question is asked & the acceptable response is that?!

Not in my world, nor in 99% of the people I know! And a straw poll of 20 in the office stated they would find it an offensive response to any question.

It's an exceedingly rude response and I'm shocked that you admit that you think it's appropriate TBH.
You actually asked 20 people in your office about that?

When I said to my mate the other day "Want to go karting at the weekend?" and he said "Why the fk not" I didn't fall out with him about it, there was nothing shocking about it, it was an entirely appropriate response. We're not addressing the Queen here, or sitting in a job interview. Yes, 'fk' is a 'naughty' word, but given the topic in question, it seems fairly reasonable to me.
Oh, well that's all right then.

In that case, I step back, apologies profusely and admit that I'm wrong rofl

That is I WILL if you admit that your responses below are hypocritical as a result! You can't say that Frumpytickle was being polite with her "why the fk not" response and then say CVM wass't when responding at that level laugh

Anyway, if the Tattoed hoards of pitchfork holding sensitive souls would stop waving them for a moment, they'd see I said I was GENUINELY not trying to be provocative, just inquisitive.

But hey, why give a reasonable, polite answer when you can live up to your stereotype?

You escalated things into an argument, not me.
Sure, you were being really polite and everything...

CVM said:
hehe

Why the fk not? Because you look like a total fking Bellend with a gorillas face on your calf?

Jeez. I asked a perfectly reasonable question and you act like your stereotype. A tattooed dick.
I clearly stated I was not being provocative.

But, thank you. You've reminded me why I come on PH once in a blue moon these days. It's full of s and chavs.
doogz said:
Or is is acceptable to call people s, if you're polite about it first? laugh

I'm not 'mock' offended, or 'real' offended.

More, bemused, by your apparent stupidity. Not your opinion (which I do find stupid, but is not the point here)

"What's the point in tattoos"

"Well, why not?"

"Why not? Because you look like a fking bellend, a total dick, etc"

There's only one person coming across like a dick in this thread, and it's you, you fking gypsy scumbag

See, stereotyping is fun, Mr ex-caravan owner.

Ali,

Leave it now. Don't worry. If they want to continue tantrumming on the floor like a child, let them.

I'm really not offended by people calling me a gypsy scumbag or questioning my choice of profession. I'm proud of everything I've done with my life and even prouder that I'm now running a successful, growing business that I set up from nothing. I've had worse things happen than some stranger on the Internet swear at me. smile

People are trying to move the thread on and I'm trying to ask (serious) questions.

It's one of those topics where people will always fall out or be offended. Simple as that.

You'll have Jimi after you too, asking why you're posting the same st. The fact that you aren't posting st won't matter to him, if he imagines there is any anti-tattoo sentiment there at all then that's what it will be as far as he is concerned.

Sorry this was actually a serious question.

Anyone?

I'd like to know how the experience/sensation/pain differs from a 'standard' tattoo.

Thanks.
What is this? What's the process?
I guess the best way to describe it is the tattoo is made up of lots of dots, usually hand applied rather than with the machine, resulting in a greater depth of field. It is supposed to hurt less as it doesn't feature the 'cutting' pain that most tattoos are associated with.

But the guy I'd met that knew about it disappeared, and I haven't followed up on it as I'm not sure if I want another or not at the moment.

So how about you answer my question then? Why ARE you posting the same st 7 years on, in a thread that you have no interest in?

I've already asked CVM the same question. Given that Ali says he asked her and Gretch about their tattoos in the pub, and given that he's been active on this thread since the beginning, one would imagine any questions he had would have been answered by now. Yet, somehow, like you, he feels the need to come back to the thread - a subject that neither of you have any interest in beyond questioning the choices of others.

THAT is what I'm getting at.

Do you have the same sort of patterns/designs or is it limited?

CVM obviously is very interested, he doesn't want them, but he's interested.

From my conversations with him, he's been interested in the reasoning behind why people choose their body art; which is why he is still asking, as everyones reasons are personal & different!

From what I understood, it's mainly black and 'skin' with some use of red.

If anyone knows more, like Gretchen, I'd be interested in hearing more about this.

Douglas, Ill be careful how I answer that, as I don't want to offend you.

Not many. Some.

If you want to carry on bickering feel free, but I'll just continue to ask the questions I see fit seeing as it's the Internet and I'm allowed. Unless that is, the tattoo question police lock me up.

You see the thing is, I don't think I am posting st. So I can't tell you why I am posting st because I'm not. If you want an answer as to why I am interested in the motivation for tattoos, then the answer is that I am interested in the subject of motivation in general, and in tattooing in particular because it is such a permanent body modification that I'm still struggling to comprehend why anyone would even think of doing it.

Or to put it in the vernacular of this thread, I'm interested because I fking am. smile
