It was great! I somehow managed to spend 10 hours there on Friday and not get tattooed. I almost did though I have pencilled in an appointment on Wednesday at Frith St tattoo.

There were plenty of artists I'd love to get tattooed by but unfortunately most of them are based in Japan and surrounding countries.

Photobucket appears to be having a strop, so here is my piece from yesterday

Hope this works smile
Seems you're late to the party.

Photobucket no longer allows third-party hosting unless you pay them £399/year.

You'll need to pull all your images and host them elsewhere before they disappear forever.

Quiet in here lately..

My last stint is on the 25th of next month which completes the sleeve. I was thinking i'd leave it be and enjoy it for a while but that's not exactly going to plan and now looking at designs for another big piece. I must like the pain.

The big gaps between sessions and the constant healing is tiresome and frustrating. (I've very little patience for it) So i'm thinking for my next one I'll try get it all done over 2-3 days and be done with it.

So, who's having what? Anything in the pipeline?

Post up...with pics!

The trouble with getting it done in a big bang is that then you'll want another one immediately, rather than at least spacing them out!!

I'm in the process of booking some more sessions with Clara to do my left side. She's done me a huge Greek mythology piece which covers shoulderblade, right arm to elbow and right chest - now I want to do a piece which joins on and covers the same on the left, so it fits like a single wraparound piece.

The left side will feature Athena and Heracles and probably the giant Enceladus, although I'm a bit stuck for ideas for what to go on the chest at the moment. It needs to tie in, but not be identical.

It'll be pretty enormous (and super detailed) when it's done.

Mines all nicely healed without any issues - Aveeno Baby emollient cream worked well for me, although the peeling stage was hard work with avoiding itches.

I've no plans for anything at the moment, but I certainly wouldn't be adverse to another. My instagram feed keeps throwing curve-balls at me though.... Perhaps I should unfollow some of the artists to reduce the risk of another too soon!

hehe Quite possibly but I feel like i've been scabby for months and if I can get it all done and healed then bingo. (My next session is all about the inner bicep so i'll probably have a different view after hehe

That's a huge piece....Have you posted pics of where you're at so far?

Yep I'm booked in at The Circle again in December.

I'm mainly into woodcut style work, so finally getting around to something done by Kola. Plus I have a couple of pieces by Kat, so seems only fair that her other half gets a go too.

Obviously I opted for the only non woodcut piece Kola's designed...! Next to a large grey/black/red polka piece so shouldn't be too odd.

I've healed well to be fair but like you the peeling, itchy scabs are tiresome. I'm all healed now I hasten to add.
Perhaps my original, balls out, get it done idea isn't likely but I'd like to at least do two sessions back to back then have a break to heal then do the same. Rinse and repeat.

I've been following Led Coult from Brazil recently for some photo-realism inspiration. The theme doesn't work for me personally, but what a talent he has.

Similar style, but closer to home in Peterborough is Jurgis Mikalauskas. It's very tempting to get an advance booking with him for sometime towards the end of next year, and then decide on the design.

I'm not normally a photorealism fan - concerns over what it will look like in years to come and whilst there is clearly a very high technical skill in doing it, it [can] lack creativity if that makes sense? All personal taste at the end of the day though hippy

That said, Rich Harris takes the style and adds a trash slant to it which I really like https://www.instagram.com/harristattooart/ Technically great but also creative.

Timur Lysenko is my favourite. But not very local sadly:

I think I did when it was first done, and red and horrible, but don't think I've posted a healed pic. Hopefully this doesn't end up on the Photoshop thread...

It doesn't photograph amazingly well because there are so many elements to it. You can't really see the arm in these pics, it's a portrait of Scylla surrounded by a storm. I've got references on there to the Antikythera mechanism and various other bits.

Debating whether to fill the chest bone area with shading to join the new one, or leave a gap, Irezumi style.

Very nice. I'd leave a gap personally and complete the back.

As i'm sporting a very thick and very permanent tit perm a chest piece is pretty pointless as much as i'd like one.

I know that a lot of show rabbits have their ears tattooed for identification and breeding, but a big chest piece on a cat is just wrong.

Racing Greyhounds have their ears tattooed for identity, as do other show animals as mentioned. Tattooing animals for vanity is cruel and wrong in my opinion.

I’d love something new, and some old stuff finished. But recently have winced at the mere mention of a tattoo. Not sure if it’s me feeling fragile at the moment but definitely not in a rush for anything in the near future frown

Actually I’m going to edit to say nothing big that is. My son has started tattooing and I’ve asked him to do my fingers. Inc a silhouette of a cat wink

Tattoos are not my thing, but I'm always interested in the artistry.... that cheese/wine tattoo is superb. As you say, hugely talented.

Perhaps I will get one done one day. smile
