Do you have a tattoo?

Whilst there are a few exceptions which disprove the rule, usually tattoos belong on lower class people, chavs and the like, who have no discernable intellect.
Otherwise, the sort of people who have tats are body piercers and sex people. In otherwords, people with serious self-esteem issues and attention-seeking disorders who enjoy having a coachbolt through their knob or clit. Normally these folk really are the most tedious dullards if you are ever unfortunate enough to be engaged in conversation by one.
I do not know why but this has really pissed me off with your sweeping statement, I am neither 'lower class' as you so put it, neither do i have a 'small intellect' not to mention am I a chav or scally or anything else of that ilk!Otherwise, the sort of people who have tats are body piercers and sex people. In otherwords, people with serious self-esteem issues and attention-seeking disorders who enjoy having a coachbolt through their knob or clit. Superb! Everyone's having a nice discussion on tattoos and then someone pipes up with that ... excellent! Well done!Otherwise, the sort of people who have tats are body piercers and sex people. Though I wouldn't have put it quite as strongly as that.

It really pisses me off when people form an opinion on things they have not experienced or simply do not like.
You must get pissed off a lot, then. People form opinions on all sorts of things that they have not experienced For instance, do you have an opinion of G.W.Bush? Have you experienced him?As for not liking something, well, that'll be an opinion in itself.

Forming an opinion and voicing it in a way that may/ may not cause offence to who/ what the opinion has been formed on.

I'm in complete agreement with Speed_Monkey's opinion.

Mmm, I seem to fit on both sides of the fence, I run my own business, but do find that in my other life, my tatts definately set me out from the crowd, and funny thing is, they actually are a conversation starter. Oh well, never did fit in with stereotypes Otherwise, the sort of people who have tats are body piercers and sex people. Oh, wait, you were actually serious?
You sir, are a fool of the highest order. I have 2 tattoos, am about to get a third, have a shaved head too. I'm quite a pleasant chap, am certainly not lower-class (how many lower-class types have ecurie25 memberships?) I am witty, urbane, and have a higher than average intellect. I'm also great in bed, but that's just my ego talking.
So by your rationale, I am one of the exceptions to the rule. But what's this? More people just like me, here on PH? Oh yes, thats right, i think you'll find your arguement is completely flawed, as nowadays anyone can, and does, have a tattoo.
Now kindly return to your dwelling under a bridge, where you can growl at passers-by.

"where did you get them done"
"how long....."
"did it hurt" etc etc
It's always amazed me just how intolerant people without tattoos can be, I mean the sweeping gernalisations about 'inked' people, our mentality, class, education and such like.
So do we start coming out with how prissy and uptight, oh and narrow minded people without tatts are? Nope, never usually see people with tatts condeming people for not having them, and never see people with tatts running down the list of perceived failures to chalk up against not-inked people.
Must make us slightly more tolerant and accepting of people then!
As I said earlier, it's my body, my choice, I paid for them, and I don't actually care if people don't like them, just don't judge me by your own small standards. I am actually a nice person (well I am unless I'm being paid not to! )

Ok your being a pedant here, you know what I meant.
I know what you wrote, I avoid making guesses about what people mean, preferring to assume that they mean what they write.speed_monkey said:

Forming an opinion is something we all do, quite naturally, and can't really be prevented.Voicing it? Well, that's what forums are for, voicing opinions. If they cause offence, well, that's just too bad. Maybe the offendee should consider avoiding forums, or else just getting over it.
