This might not be a popular one, but, Greg Davies.

I loved his work on the inbetweeners and cuckoo, I think he's a hilarious actor. But I just saw his 'Magnificent Beast' stand up show and thought he died on his arse, to be fair, I could only manage to watch about half an hour before I turned it off, so I'm hoping the second half was a lot better than the first.
He's definitely not a good stand up comedian, but he's a good comic actor and panel show person - works in short doses but can't carry his own show?

Does that make him a funny/unfunny 'comedian' though? Depends what your definition of comedian is read

Yep i put this on one evening expecting it to be quite good. If you think the first half hour was bad you didnt miss anything later on, the second half was dreadful and very cringy

Oh no I ignored it as it was the whimsy of a small mind picking a fight. As you were.

You're in the minority on PH it would seem, but that's fair enough. Different strokes etc etc.

Personally I find it hilarious, though the series with Liza Tarbuck and others was bad, the rest have been a pretty consistent high standard.

And you don't like Dave Gorman either, whereas I think he is brilliant.
The series with Paul Chowdhry in it was brilliant, especially when he made the 'snowman'.

I didn't think the Lisa Tarbuck one was that bad, I was crying when she had Alex sit on the cake. Having to sit and watch Tim Vine did my head in though, now there's an unfunny comedian!

Joe Lycett.

Who, you say?

Exactly.

He thinks he's Julian Clary.

I'd never pick a fight with an Alpha like you - I am far too good looking.

It was just a light hearted ribbing following some of your bizarre posts.

They are only bizzare to those with a large imagination. I take it back and appreciate the tenacious complement.

Perhaps you are an alpha too?

Of all the comedians who have made it big in the last decade John Bishop is the one whose success baffles me the most. I mean, I'm not a fan of the likes of Peter Kay or Michael Macintyre but I get why a lot of people do like them. John Bishop just seems like a nice chap who tells (often very) vaguely amusing stories though - I remember there was one about how, when filling out the form to enter a 10k race, he put down a rather optimistic estimated finishing time. The punchline was that on the day he was told that he was starting with the elite athletes. That was it. Then again he is from Liverpool where mawkish cloying sentimentality passes for entertainment.

This ^^ i got given a free ticket to see him, just a fat northern bloke with a dictaphone. I've met way funnier guys in day to day life but somehow this chap has sold out the O2 many times over so i must be missing something but ive no idea what.

Saw Ian McKellen on Norton and thought he was a darn sight funnier than 90% of the comedians I have seen

Have to disagree with that, just because he speaks in a camp way does not make him like Julian Clary. Julian Clary belongs in this thread with his never ending, boring double-entendres whilst Joe Lycett is quite funny.
