I like Gervais. Frankie Boyle not so much.

All Comedians are funny...and unfunny...subject to their audience. Everyone has their own sense of humour and what appeals to me, might not appeal to you. The measure of a comedian being confirmed as 'funny' is their relative success. Anyone who is able to make a decent living from it is successful and therefore 'funny' as they have an audience - even if they are unfunny to you or I.
Nail on head as far as I’m concerned, including the comment on Gervais and Boyle.
Agree with the one man’s meat is another man’s poison thing too.
I played a Jeff Foxworthy YouTube video to my brother-in-law, and he was bewildered.
“What’s a redneck, why is blue collar and Walmart funny, and who the f**k is Bernie Sanders?”
I explained it all to him as best as I could, and he said, “What? and you walked out of my house and went to The Plough when I had Alan Carr on our TV?

Christ on a bike that's painful hehe Even before the boo'ing nobody was paying any attention to him, good stage presence.
I've been to see many comedians that I haven't liked, but I at least have the manners not to behave like an idiot and ruin it for others.

I don't actually see the funny side of that. It reflects worse on the crowd than it does the comedian. It's just a lack of class and decency.

Nish does have the knack of managing to be both like an excitable puppy and incredibly smug at the same time. Though I do like his “Drummer from Coldplay “ routine.

i guess its mostly true but a bit less so in the days of social engineering. comedians can appear on tv (and make a living from being so) for non comedic reasons, to fill a quota, push a political agenda, sympathy etc. are their stage shows successful? do they have stage shows? are their stage shows popular simply as they are seen on tv so people think its the thing to do to see them?

theres some comedian who doesn't speak who sometimes is on tv. i think hes from BGT or some other crap. i find nothing of his funny that i have seen. i dont think he would be on tv were it not for his terribly unfortunate affliction. but then maybe some think he is funny.

Saw Rob Beckett last month and i was in tears at the end.

Mcintyre, so unfunny I might have spelt his name wrong.

Never found Frankie Boyle particularly funny either actually, being insulting to people is funny to some I guess, just not me, too easy.

To be fair most main stream comics are fairly unfunny.

But maybe I like a certain type of comic not allowed to do much anymore like Louis CK!! Entirely his fault though!

Have to agree - Just don't find the content funny.

Shes doing well though.

As for Nish - I think it may have been the radio 4 NewsQuiz that he was the host of recently - Really quite annoying! I'd quite like to throw a bread roll at him too just for that.

Johnathan Pie. Went a show of his at the weekend, left after about 20 minutes. Utter rubbish. I work with people who are funnier. ( in the funeral trade)

Not sure what that’s about, I know that not all PHers are happy with the subject matter of some of my posts, and I could care less about that, but I don’t post in an effort to keep everyone amused, and I’ve never appeared on stage, radio or TV as an alleged comedian, so I don’t know why I’ve been selected for a mention, confused but if it keeps you happy, knock yourselves out

Rob Beckett is one of the few properly funny ones around at the moment!!
Saw the Nish thing on GMB this morning, Morgan really enjoyed taking the p*ss out of NK as it seems Piers and Nish have had a spat on Twitter

BBC R4's Front Row has a piece about this.

Aside from the luvvies closing ranks & fizzing about how Kumar "is at the top of his game" & "they probably couldn't have afforded him if he hadn't done it for free so perhaps the audience should have been more grateful".

This made me chuckle.

I've never heard of her. Not even on the BBC.

Thankfully.

I enjoy Rob Beckett, and Kevin Bridges. It may be because they're not overly political in their material (that I have seen).

Never heard of that nish guy but he was useless. He couldn’t control the crowd and when it started going wrong he didn’t have a fall-back routine to switch to. He had nothing. He lost it and then had nothing to say, just kept saying crap like why are you the rowdiest crowd I’ve had etc

Completely useless.

Is it me or are there more comedians of a right wing bent coming through, or at least more appearing on YouTube, not that you’re going to see them on the BBC any time soon. Became aware of Will Franken a few months ago and this guy Leo Kearse who I think is most excellentbiggrin I’m not sure if they’re right wing comedians or comedians doing right wing material, as they’ve seen a (huge) hole in the market.

I have it on good authority that the bloke is an absolute bellend
I can’t confirm that however having found his first live album really funny I was so disappointed I lost total interest in his humour which is a shame.

That said I saw Elton John (I know he’s not a comedian!) and apparently he’s a legend. I watched an overweight grumpy old git who didn’t want to be onstage and clearly had other thoughts on his mind that night - not my problem mate, I’m paying bloody good money to be entertained.
