Nish Kumar should be stabbed repeatedly with a sharpened baguette, he and Hugh Dennis are two of the least funny comedians on TV at the moment, and unfortunately they're on TV (and the radio) rather too often.
You've never heard of Russell Howard then?
Compared with Nish Kumar and Hugh Dennis, Russell Howard is a comedy genius.

I don't like him much either.

Andy Parsons. But seems to have gone thankfully.

Sarah Milican (spelling?)

On the whole those of right wing persuasion do find left wing comedians funny. It’s just some are st. Look at Mark Steel. Hugely left wing but very good.

It's about knowing your audience. We go to a local comedy club once a month, they have four different comedians on each time - a couple of established acts and a couple of 'up and coming' ones. Generally (although not always) the less political they are, the better they do.

One exception was a guy who had been on Britain's got Talent. The 'highlight' of his act pretty much consisted of him putting a guitar case on his head to look like an elephant's trunk. You could have heard a pin drop. I almost felt sorry for him, he was dying on his arse and he knew it. Google tells me his name is Noel James. Terrible.

One of my favourite comedians is Tom Stade. He is just brilliant live - don't judge him by the TV stuff he's done, he's a bit too sweary for the beeb. He also tends to set off to the nearest pub with half the audience in tow after a gig as well, which you don't see very often. biggrin

I love his (scripted) Good News show.

His stand up is dreadful.

Have to be honest, I do find her quite funny, certainly more so than other routinely regular UK comedians!

She has the figure of a 60yr old granny. But her husbans is the English version of Frankie Boyle..now him i do find amusing, he HAS to have a good sense of humour...He married her

And Mcintyre words fail me. is he under hypnosis thinking he is THAT funny

I could make a tasteless remark about his personal life, but even i might cringe at it

Comedians should by now understand that we dont care for political jokes whatever the political colour

We have all lost our sense of humour when it comes to politics. We are tired of politics, the old saying 'it would be funny if it weren't so tragic' is very apt right now.
Its just not funny anymore, politics is one level off the bottom and thats why people are throwing stuff and booing 'comedians' off stage.
I’m not bored of political jokes.

I just want a bit of balance.

All we get is trump,brexit,trump,brexit,trump.

It’s fking boring and they are trying too hard to hate with no comedy. Usually picking the wrong targets when its other people that have been dicks but trump, brexit.

That guy that got bread rolled. On R4 they said yesterday that it all went down hill when he said brexit voters were idiots.

Hilarious. That’s not humour thats a personal agenda.

Please define 'we' in this sentence?
Any sort of corporate gig really .. have to be careful going in with political jokes. His agent made a bad choice - Daily Mash used to do fantastic stuff but it's almost like Channel 4 News nowadays. Nish is a one-track woke comedian - so much so that he didn't even realise it was time to leave the stage before it got hostile. Reminds me of a work Christmas Party some years ago where the comedian did a 'bringing fun to fundamentalism' skit - that went down really well with the conservative management!

This.

I'm a big fan of political satire but there's a fine line between comedy and just preaching your own agenda. It seems Nish has managed his whole career only performing to people who share his opinion which has both bolstered his opinion and given him a heightened sense of how funny he is.

Political jokes can be funny, but it is the joke part that is the funny bit, not the politics. Saying Brexit voters are idiots isn't funny, but saying Brexit voters are idiots because...(insert some observational comedy comparison here) could be funny.
