Others definitely agree...I'm one. I will simply turn off as soon as she's introduced, TV or Radio. Just dreadful.
She's been given far more of a profile than her comedy deserves, because she's disabled.
Comedy is a skill, delivery, timing, working the audience - she does none of it.
I'd add another area: saying something funny. She doesn't do that either.

Only if you think she's constantly on our minds. It's more that she's the very definition of unfunny, so when the question is asked, it's natural she's going to be dredged up to the front of the queue.

Kind of off-topic to a minor extent; but I've been watching the latest series of Worlds Most Dangerous Roads and episode 4 had Mike Wozniak (who I do like) and an alledged comedian called Ola Labib who I have never heard of or seen before.

She was so rude, obnoxious and unfunny through the whole program it turned me off ever having any interest in seeing her; so much so that I'd deliberately avoid anything that she is on. So I'd like her to the list - Ola Labib.
Well said Kinky, seconded. Within first 10 minutes Mrs F had also given a similar verdict.

As I pointed out last time, it’s more than that when folk are coming in specifically to remind people when her new shows start so they can hate watch them laugh

Fair point. Guilty as charged.

I'm guessing she ticks a diversity box then?

Never heard of her but her Instagram follower number is a whopping 37,800. That's very low, just to be clear. It's obvious what's happened: she's had a lucky break and made it onto the dying gogglebox.

I've had my meltdowns on here about broadcast TV, what it has become and the direction in which it is headed, but programmes like these and the individuals they feature are even more reason not to tune in.

The thing is, if this was 20 years ago it would be relevant: budding comedian meets actor and they go on journeys together.

Throw in the fact it's someone unfunny for many: 20 years ago you'd either stop watching or begrudgingly watch because you only had a handful of channels and the content/schedule was dictated to you

Nowadays, programmes like these are pointless and outdated given there are millions of channels in existence and these sorts of programme are ten a penny.

Also, the title "World's Most Dangerous Roads" sounds like cliché low-budget 1990s American TV.

There’s a brand new series of World’s Most Dangerous Roads coming to Dave & UKTV Play.

Eight new episodes featuring a brand new batch of comedians navigating some of the most treacherous roads around the world.

I’m glad the blurb informed me there are comedians as I wouldn’t have known other wise.

That is exactly how he performed during last year's Dubai Comedy Festival. The theatre was rammed and he had performed at least once beforehand.

That was the first time I had gone to see
any live stand-up and I had gone to see three American comediennes the week before. I had mistakenly presumed his brand of humour would have grown up since the 2000s, given he's now over 50.

Far from it. It was more or less what you've written there. Not really banter or TV host humour as I had imagined either and about 95% of it was tired smut and innuendo.

In fact, he even came across as scarily fed up and contemptuous, manic even, as a running gag with one audience member drew to its inevitable punchline conclusion with him literally screaming down the mic something like, IIRC, "f***! Sex! F***! Sex!" and gesturing with his hands about a dozen times.

His fan boys and girls loved every predictable minute of it. Whenever he sensed things were waning he'd have them howling again as he would toss in his trademark seal sound effect 'laugh' to reawaken people's senses.

He did everything behind his frozen face which didn't move, thanks to whatever aesthetic procedures he has had done to himself - something he did poke fun at but said he apparently didn't care what people think.

There was also a number to which you could text in your own best risqué non-PC gag and he would read out the best ones to pad out the remainder of his time slot.

This discussion might be better in the proper thread but here goes.

In reality though there are some names there, but accept you might not have heard of Rhod Gilbert, or Angela Barnes, or Mike Wozniak, or Desiree Burch, or Jamali Maddix, or Seann Walsh, or turning onto non comedians, David Harewood and Joe Swash (actors), or Jeff Stelling ( TV sports reporter) and Chris Kamara (ex footballer and pundit). That leaves only 5 out of the 16 series cast as relative unknowns, but that could be my ignorance.

Looking back comedians have never been exclusively selected, eg Charley Boorman paired up with Sue Perkins on the S1 Ep1. Or Angus Deayton and Mariella Frostrup, which played on a running gag from some show where Angus was supposed to have erotic dreams due to having a bit of a repressed thing for Mariella.

This show works best where the two principals know each other beforehand, get on well, and a fair bit of banter results, where stand ups are best equipped. Though it can work with non comedians too, eg Stelling and Kamara, who have both appeared as themselves on comedy show Ted Lasso, though must be said watching Chris struggle with his apraxia was hard at times, poor bugger.

Where it can struggle to work is pairing up two very different characters who have never met, made worse when they just don't develop any chemistry, one tries too hard and is frankly an arse example Labib , and the other, example Wozniak, tries to make the best of it but clearly is completely pissed off by their imposed travel partner.

It's a light entertainment travel show where individuals are put out of comfort zone with driving situations in remote areas, and you see some odd and different sights around the world never covered by the usual travel shows. Depends if you're interested or not, for example I'd love to have a go on those roads in the Italian Alps covered by Rhod and Angela. Either you get the concept, or you don't.

^^^ I do get the concept. In the early days of the program, they truly did travel on the worlds most dangerous roads, both in terms of location and other road users. Now it seems disingenuous and contrived.

From the list, the only person I’ve heard of is Rhod Gilbert, but then I don’t live in the UK or watch much UK television.

Fair enough, the roads on this series, maybe last one too, are not so extreme, same goes for other road users. Also they're being given better vehicles.

I hadn't watched Jimmy Carr before I looked at an 8 out of 10 cats clip with Sean Lock in it.

Jimmy Carr did that laugh which I thought was an ironic "pretending to laugh" noise as if the joke wasn't actually funny.

From the posts on here I now realise that the ridiculous noise is actually his put on laugh. FFS I'll try to avoid watching him again now!

I never really took to Jimmy Carr, always found him too smarmy, but have been down a bit of a YouTube rabbit warren watching some of his clips. No idea how old they are but admit I laughed more than I expected.

Where he does seem a bit naff is heckling... it seems that according to YouTube the "best ever" response to heckling is "something something YOUR MUM", which was never particular funny 20 years ago, even less so now.

I'm a big fan of live comedy and have seen Jimmy Carr live. He was alright, my wife can't stand him and that bloody laugh though.

Wouldn't be top of my list but you've just reminded me of one of my biggest hates when going to comedy nights. aholes that shout out joke requests, invariably pissed. Why in the name of fk would you want to hear the same joke told again!? They're as bad as fking groupies. Jimmy Carr audience was full of them.

Any comedian that talks about getting cancelled.

It just seems like a way for new or older comedians to grift or stay relevant and set up bait.

I can assure you, most young people don't give a st about cancelling you.
