On building sites, in certain circumstances, you dont have to supply the workers with a way to heat their food as many are lead to believe.

When the builders all eat lunches of Dairylea sandwiches and Wagon Wheels packed by their mums into plastic He-Man lunchboxes.

The world's fastest super computer (currently) is capable of calculating in one hour what otherwise would take 6.7 billion people using hand calculators 320 years to complete if they worked non-stop.

More of an interesting but useless skill rather than fact, but I'll show it off anyway.

I know the numerical position of every letter in the alphabet off-by-heart and can recall them all instantly. I can take this a step further by looking at a word and adding up all the 'values' of the letters, also almost instantly giving a total.

I also often do it with car registration plates, and then try and group the letters to divide the total in half. For example, DY04 LHX totals 87 - H,X,0(0 counts as ten) equals 42...

Please help me.

In the film Aliens, the director was unhappy that the scale of the alien space ship when the crew step inside the main chamber where the fossilised remains were, wasn't big enough, even though it was built as big as the sound stage could accommodate.

So, instead of adult actors in space suits, he got his then 8 year old son and some of his chums to do the scene, thereby doubling the scale.
The rabbits on the Teletubbies are a particular giant breed to make the Teletubbies looks smaller.

My favourite useless fact is that the traditional British lunchtime dish the ploughman's lunch was invented in ~1960 in order to sell more cheese.

I'd have a Niva if you could still find them for a couple of hundred quid with an MOT

I don't want one enough to spend thousands importing a left hand drive one though

(That's not very interesting so not a contribution to the thread)
