Whereabouts is your job likely to be based, North or South MK?
It's for Lockheed Martin.....and reading the attachment that's only just come down the email pipe it's actually Ampthill....so no idea where that is in relation to MK.
Out of interest, what department would you be joining?
I would be joining as the Master Scheduler. So I'm guessing something akin to the BAe Central Projects Office.
Sounds like a manufacturing role possibly, but i may be wrong.

PM if you like.

Avoid placs such as Netherhall, Coffehall, Beanhill, Fishermead, Oldbrook (you'll soon learn the dodgy areas.)
Reporting live from Oldbrook, I just nipped out and took these action shots while all the gang bangers are having their tea.

Oldbrook may be boring, but it is not somehwere to be afraid of!!!

Hmmm, doesn't Oldbrook have a mix of nice places and dodgy places, though?

As I recall, there are some blocks of terraced 3-level maisonettes in Oldbrook which are very dodgy indeed.

We have had a shopping trolley outside our house all week...

Couldn't get the £ out and too far to walk to Morrisons frown

Evenings will find the er... what do they call it? theatre district? well, the bars filled with drunk chavs shouting at each other.
The Chavs can be avoided by heading towards the Hub these days.

I've lived just outside MK for most of my life and like the place. I can imagine that anybody who visited/ lived here before 2000 wouldn't have a great opinion though.

As for the comment about having no history, that's a little misinformed settlement in town dates back 2000 years to the Romans. The place just wasn't called Milton Keynes. Take Stoney Stratford for example, 2 of it's medieval pubs are the origin of the phrase 'a cock and bull story'. Plenty of 'history' arround here. biggrin

The pics you posted are pf the 'new' bit IIRC. For about a year I shared a house with a mate on Kirkstall place (no 46) and that wasn't the nicest road. Worst part about Oldbrook is the main road through it leads to Fishermead.

OP - If its Lockheed Martin it's on the road out of Ampthill towards Bedford. Ampthill is lovely, as are most of the towns and villages around - shefford, Northhill, Henlow, Flitwick etc - all within 20 minutes from possible work.

Yep, built in 97 to the usual high quality we have come to expect. I give them about twenty years before they are in ruins :P

Being built when I lived there then.
I remember coming backed worse for wear from Flamingos paperbag or The Square (now Cafe Rouge IIRC) and nicking stuff off the building site for my drinking trophy cabinet!

I then moved to Shenley Church End - far nicer place to live

Just really do make sure you avoid Fishermead, unless you enjoy being woken up at 2 in the morning by people stabbing each other for drugs.

But as said there are some nicer bits, just don't take your first journey around the place in the dark otherwise you will get lost, towards the centre everything looks the same.

I haven't been to MK for about 10 years, but apart from the roundabouts that would be a drifters paradise, the place was a dump. No history, no heritage, no places of real interest, no nice sights. Just a mundane man made commuter town with its fair share of scum.
