MK is dead easy to find your way around, the main grid roads are all numbered so it's just a matter of following coordinates. Unfortunately they also have names which are the usual meaningless random crap and some mongs insist on using the names instead of the numbers, just to confuse everyone.

There is Milton Keynes disease, of which the symptoms include bald n/s/f tyres.

But as has been said - and largely ignored rolleyes - MK is more or less irrelevant if your new job is in Ampthill. Bedford is closer, and Ampthill and Flitwick (they more or less run into each other) and the villages around are all nice places to live.

I used to live in Silsoe which is not so far from Ampthill. Really nice part of the world if you avoid Luton and Bedford.

Loads of nice villages to live in in the immediate area

MK is not bad at all. Lots of investments continuing to go into the place. It has some very nice, very quaint parts, plus it has all modern ameneties in the shopping centre and at Escape. There are loads of nice little villages on the outskirts of MK, all of which are a short 10 to 15 mins drive, so one could easily live in one of these and commute into the centre.

I live in MK

I like it. There's dodgy areas of course but there is everywhere.

Look into one of the villages if you can afford it.

If you're based in Ampthill I would look closer to there though.

There are some lovely villages around MK - I used to live in Mursley to the west. All the nice things of living in a small rural community with the convenience of MK a ten minute drive away - 10mins more to the west you have places like Winslow and Gawcott - they used these areas for filming some of the Midsomer Murders stuff so you can tell they're nice.

We've just bought a place on the fringes of the old MK Village, Middleton - only for investment but would also happily live there if needs must.

i have lived in MK (great holm) for 7 years now and always lived within 20 miles of MK and it is a good place to live.

I would avoid the previously mentioned estates, and eaglestone isn't great. Apart from that most estates have a very nice part somewhere in them.

There are lots of things to do, as mentioned 'the hub' is a good place to go for food etc if the theatre district is not your scene. Airkix, snow slope, cinemas, theatre, loads of walks/bike rides and lakes etc.

If you are looking outside MK a lot of the vilages near ampthill are very nice and well situated for the motorway. I would be happy to live in any of them.
