Basically, it's an offence to interfere with the eggs of any wild bird.

Oh, and the nest of all wild birds is protected whilst it's in use or being built too (the protection extends further re nests of certain species but not pigeons).

trust me. birds see the owl and almost fly backwards to get away. i was doubtfull till i saw it myself but when i did i went out and got one for my balcony. i paid about a fiver for it and was worth every penny with not having flying rats stting on my washing.

FFS what is it with you lot and your destroy-anything-if-you-don't-happen-to-like it mentality. Smash kill destroy burn grunt grunt look I've got a nice house but I still act like I was living in a cave two million years ago rolleyes The OP is quite happy to have pigeons nesting on his balcony, he's posted an approving thread about it already.

I must say thats a pretty pathetic attempt at a nest. I could probably whip up something more convincing even after a night out on the town hehe
That's actually a rather fine attempt at a nest. (It is a lot more structurally cohesive than it looks too.) Half the time mine try and make a nest out of random bits of plastic or more likely don't bother at all and just stick the eggs in a corner somewhere. It still works smile

Sometimes I've given them chopped up wiring looms out of knackered VCRs and things, they make multi-coloured psychedelic nests with that smile

Hate to break this to you, but they didn't actually build the brick bit.

i used to throw the eggs off the balcony. if you want to get rid of them get a plastic owl and put that on your balcony. it was the only thing that worked for me.
How does a plastic owl get rid of eggs?
Comes to life when theres a full moon.
But DON'T feed it after midnight.

Anyways, nature is doing well there, the OP should be proud.

I'm with you on this one. People think I'm weird because I don't kill things on a whim. When did the time come about when one has to defend themselves about not killing something?
