I remember seeing some photos of where somewhere remote where they had been mining, caused a massive drop in the earths 'crust' leaving a gap where you can see the lava. It might be Russia if I remember

Anyone got a link to this???

Isnt it a massive coal fire that's been burning for years?

A very big hole can be found be googling "Mirny diamond mine, siberia" but doesn't have any fire involved.

On a related topic, isn't there something similar but in a lake, and they drilled through and caused all the water to drain out?

It's in Russia, so they can't protest without being shot (even if they were let in). Much easier to pick on the English middle classes and make them buy crap lightbulbs.

I have a huge desire to see that.
Is it just a coal seam on fire?
