Which Town would you erase from the UK map?

Came here to post Stevenage, but I see I have been well beaten. There are some nice parts, that were villages before the pulsating scumfest that is Stevenage absorbed them,
Luton comes a close second. Even if I have to scoot through it to get on the M1, it's still an utterly depressing situation.
Last year I went to view a car in Stevenage. Most towns have their nice and grotty bits. For instance even grim towns such as Chatham have nice big houses on the primary approach/A roads (Maidstone Road & City Way (Rochester I know but it blurs)).Luton comes a close second. When I left the M1, I thought "this looks 60's/70's & grim, it will change to somewhere nicer" and "wtf are al these sunken walkways".
A mile later: "should get better"
Another mile later "should get better"
Another mile later "should get better"
Another mile later: "oh... doesn't get better". When I parked at the dealer I feared for the safety of the Daihatsu Shed.
Back in the late 80's/early 90's I lived in Glasgow City Centre on Elmbank Street. Walking home wasn't right if I didn't encounter a huge fight on Sauchiehall.
I remember being told a list of towns and 'burbs to avoid. The only one I can remember is Drumchapel.
What are these areas like now?

Walsall. If the earth required a colonoscopy it’s where they would stick it.
Up until the end of Jan I used to work there, hopefully I’ll never have to visit that town again. Some amusing/scary sights when I worked nights there for a few years, one of the funniest was a group of us looking out of the office window watching a girl in a Santa outfit getting banged from behind while she was texting on her phone.vikingaero said:

If you were seeing that within 5 miles of the M1, you were lost, not in Stevenage. When I left the M1, I thought "this looks 60's/70's & grim, it will change to somewhere nicer" and "wtf are al these sunken walkways".

Edited to add: Stevenage is pretty grim in the main, though. The Old Town is OK, but most of it - I am glad I only work there.

We haven't had a Scottish one for a while. Can I nominate Port Glasgow? The only good thing in it is the A8 back to Glasgow.
Greenoc?, Gourock, Cumbernauld, MotherwellTechnically my address includes PG but I never use it, being 5miles away thankfully.
Greenock has the most deprived area in Scotland now, apart from the Esplanade,it's grim.
Odiham
I recently drove out there for something to do. Thinking I could kill a couple of hours or so. But I instead found a place that was so lifeless that it was a complete waste of the petrol getting there.

- Edit* - This was back in January, before lockdown.

Anyone ever been to Skelmersdale? If not, don’t bother. I wasn’t even aware of it’s existence until reading about it in a book by Stuart Maconie, but as luck would have it I ended up pricing some work there recently so got to visit around a dozen different locations in the town.
It’s grim; not grim and dangerous like the worst parts of London, Brum or Manchester, but just depressing throughout the entire town. A 1960s-1970s architectural hell of ring roads, footbridges, underpasses, and council estates. Flat-roofed pubs and badly designed open spaces, with an absolutely dire shopping centre.
The whole place just seemed weighed down with hopelessness. It didn’t even feel particularly dangerous, as though the scallies just couldn’t be bothered, probably happier sitting at home drinking cheap lager and smoking weed.
If there is/was an original old Skelmersdale village I saw no sign of it, just a collection of council estates and a damp, leaky, badly designed, badly lit shopping centre (Concourse Shoping Centre) with a disasterously low occupancy of the units. I think the main “anchor” stores were Farmfoods and Argos. Other highlights I can remember were Poundland, The Pound Shop, Pound Bakery, and about a dozen charity shops.
Check out the Google Reviews on the place. Some classics. My favourite is;
“The place were dreams go to die.
This is why I spend most of my time here and why I dont want it to change.”
If anyone is familiar with the Scarfolk blog, then I’m sure Skelmersdale is twinned with Scarfolk.
