If its really stressful:

give up all alcohol
Go to the gym more
generally lose a bit of weight
work harder
long walks with the dogs

Luckily its not always stressful

I tend to find that the best course of action for me is to have a few pints of Stella at my local, amble home in the early hours, wake the wife for forced, aggressive, non-consentual sex, then give her a couple of black eyes.

Unfortunately I was so pissed that I went into the wrong house and had a bit of a kerfuffle with my neighbour Matt, who is a 6 ft, 16 stone, judo black belt.

Pick up PS3 Controller.

Turn on Grand Theft Auto IV

Kill lots of people with a shotgun, golf club, or whatever comes to hand.

My favourite is taking a high up position (rooftop usually), and shooting peoples heads off when they're riding motorbikes using a sniper rifle. it amuses me how the bike carries on going for a while, wobbles, then falls over.

This usually stops me from going out and doing the real thing.

Smoke. The list thing mentioned above works for me too. Go for a nice drive. Stay awake all night thinking about not thinking about the reason I'm stressed.

Not again ?

I think he'll twig it's no accident if you do this for a third time.

I find that I end up categorising stuff that is stressing me in one of 3 ways:
  • Stuff I am in control of - work out what to do and do it.
  • Stuff completely out of my control - accept it and move on.
  • Stuff partly in my control - work out what I can influence to improve the situation then try to do that.
And this is exactly what wakes me up at 3.00am, and I'll spend the next four hours figuring out what I can control, what I can't and whether or not I should be doing anything about it. I do this when I am stressed at work, with mounting, and conflicting deadlines. As soon as I can't sleep through the night, I know I'm being pushed perhaps a bit too hard at the office.

Drink heavily, vomit and fight the police in the town centre, preferably late on a Saturday night.

Get a headache, then start searching for a solution.

Most of my stress is financial so it could be worse i guess

Troll on forums biggrin

Drink

Go for random long drives that turn into road trips, and sometimes even fresh new starts somewhere else.

Why is it that (1) stressful things wake you up at (almost) exactly 3 in the morning, and (2) at that time they always seem worse than they actually are in the cold light of day?
