Big history of FM in my family and contrary to what was said earlier, I was asked on 3 occasions (not by family) to join, each time I said no. From what I know, I prefer to be my own man.

Something I'd like to do, sadly don't know anyone who's in the Masons to get more involved.G

I don't believe in a higher power
how good are you at lying?A bunch of my friends are going to Evensong this Sunday, and Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve except me. Of the 7 people going, 1 actually believes in God, 1 decided to so he could get married to her in a Church, and the others last went to Church last Christmas Eve. It's hypocritical nonsense, and I would feel like an absolute fraud if I went.
My father was a FM (GM/2nd degree? I think) and his father was too.
Curious about it a few years ago, but I would struggle to lie about believing in the higher being-part and my time is spent with the family (any spare would be with own mates anyway). I always assumed would be approached to join.
it's a society with sectrets, not a secret society. It's basically charity but also a social/good networking club especially for local businessmen. My dad often joked it was where criminals could socialise with the law!

your gonna get bummed
That's sound advice, are talking from experience?Either way, very kind of you to offer, I think?
Thanks but no thanks. Also thanks for your creative and valued input to this thread, you must be exhausted, so take the rest of the week off, if you're not already off!
Regards to you and your other half.
P.S are you sure it was the Freemasons you had contact with and not the George Michael appreciation society at your local gents? I read about this activity on the front page of my national news paper some time ago, although they didn't mention any other names other than that of Mr GM as I remember. Anyway good luck to you matey, each to their own and all that.;)

alot of people from PH have just gone down in my estimations.
For being masons?
aarrrghhhh knew i shouldnt have posted that, ok maybe saying they have gone down in my estimations was the wrong wording. I just dont believe in that sort of group - a place where personal gain is made easier.
Like I said hardly the place to discuss it so lets leave it there.
And Soir, no I wont be letting my kids join the scouts. (ETA - Different reasons though)
