Quickie for DC's out there

Been a while since we have had a WM take a second year, but cannot remember if there are salutations by the MM/FC/EA on them re entering the Lodge.as is normally done

So do the MM/FC/EA do the perambulations on re entering, or just the presentation of the tools only?

No.

If they are in the line up they go to their position, otherwise, sit down.

Late to the party, and forgive me if I'm reading it incorrectly, but it sounds like the question you asked is about the perambulations in general. They will line up, and they will be called on to do salutations. This is the same if it was a new WM or an incumbent, but, as per Mad Monk's answer, this is only for those taking part in that section of the ceremony. Our rule is that the only people excused are visitors, who would take their seats on reentering.

For most in Durham, at least. Appreciate we don't all do it the same way (not even in Durham).

I was initiated in Feb this year and made a FC in April. Attended my Lodges first Installation last night where I was given office as a JD biggrin. Had a fantastic evening and we had the Sussex PGM as guest of honour. LOTS to learn but I'm really enjoying it and would encourage anyone curious to get in touch with a local lodge.

My Great-grandfather was a Freemason however it skipped two generations, very glad I'm part of it now though.

There’s is lots to learn. I’m in my second year and have been given all sorts of books to read and recite.

There are lots of farmers at my lodge hence me joining to make some friends in the community.

So much to learn

I needed some masonry sorted once, so I touted the job out. In the end the Stonemason wanted to much Stone, so I gave the work to the Freemason, coz he did it for nothing......

So how are you calendars looking? Any signs of revival in your Provinces?

Nothing in Durham. Speculatively, we're thinking January (my lodge, that is, and a number of others I've personally spoken with).

Which is a neat socially acceptable cover, much like Round table & the Lions - to a degree.
I was invited to join 'Table' many years ago & spent a couple of evenings with a local group to get a sense of what was involved. One evening was spent in a pub being entertained by a vulgar comedian & some strippers. My summary was that the members were a load of snobs, out for themselves to scratch each others backs & raising money for charity was just a neat cover story. When my proposer lost his job as a car saleroom manager & having done nice mates-rates deals for his Table mates over many years, including a fleet of cars for a local estate agent he was completely ostracised. Blanked wherever he went especially after he had to leave his nice posh house & rent from the council.
So don't mention Masons or any other devious insincere organisation to me.

That's my feel too, January that is. Even if they relax some of the distancing rules I can't see how we can deliver any ceremonies in a meaningful and dignified manner. Also, given the age profile, I can't see members willingly put themselves at risk. Festive Boards could be interesting too - shouting at each other across tables set very far apart hehe

Nothing north of the border. There have been a few management calls via Zoon between provincial and GL but everything on hold until further notice.

I feel for the new masters that were installed for the first time, it's a brilliant year in the chair and this has just wiped it out.

As mentioned above though delivering any of the rituals will be impossible under current rules. Meetings will be severely cut in numbers. our average meeting attendance is around 90 per meetings that alone will not be possible unless they suddenly state everything is OK. there is the option of gloves and masks but where's the dignity.

I fear many Lodges might not survive this

I hope I'm wrong but I suspect we may see a drop in numbers as some realise they've enjoyed having their evenings back and the extra cash in their pocket. I think any members who may have been wavering about leaving will have had their mind made up. I for one have enjoyed the time back (but I am very active and out c3 nights a week), my wallet is also fatter and I haven't missed the stodgy festive board food one bit. The enforced time out has also made me reflect on which orders I enjoy and those I really haven't missed I will be resigning from shortly.

I think those posts are about right. I feel that quite a few Masons who are in a number of different lodge, or different Orders will decide to do some pruning.

A number of factors will come into play - travelling, costs etc. I think the main thing will be, how much do I enjoy it, how much would I miss it?

I get Provincial honour on Wednesday! Zoom, of course.

I think that you guys who are south of the border and can hold senior offices in multiple different lodges also have some decisions to make.

I can't remember the exact details but if I remember rightly from visiting Newcastle 24 there is a significant monthly cost per lodge that's due? It's different north of the border but still I think there will be a commitment discussion happening in all of our heads.

Rather hypocritically this was the first I'd been back after I fell away when I came off the chair, a number of reasons behind that but I had a plan to get back in amongst it this year.

Congrats to you both. I had active rank this year in Craft, but sadly only had half of it before the lock down hit.

I agree that there will be a drop in numbers, and that those who were wavering will have had the situation clarified.
