Managed to convince the missus to stay in while I go round my sister's. Couple of bottles of red, some sloe gin a nice cigar. That'll do. Bed now, wake her up with a semi and see if she's up for it.
I have always felt uncomfortable with the smiley thing on here. It is entirely homo, and one of the reasons I'd never show anyone I know this website. I'm sure for those who live their lives online it's now a very normal thing but I'd never finish a letter with a smiley face or dot an 'i' with a little heart so I just don't get it.
If this place ever allows you to put a 'funny' picture or clip next to your name, or have a 'tag line' like 'piston-headers do it with crankshafts' I will never return.

Totally Don, we are being let down by B&DBC council. Last week due to the combination of the weather and the ineptness of BDBC to deal with it, allowing ice and snow to disable the taxi trade amongst other things, it resulted in most taxis coming off the road. It was considered too much of a gamble with insurance damage versus income. It's just too dangerous and costly with iced up junctions and the fear of sliding out into oncoming traffic, as the roads and junctions are untouched.
The council then lodged a complaint with the Hackney federation, stating there were not enough cabs on the road. How much would a bit of organisation taken by, say by clearing junctions using council gardners and other workers who must be laid up, allowing the town to function properly. There are no bins collected and services are severely disrupted.
I spent all last week over at Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Dartford area, a more hillier place and an area where you would have thought would be far harder to keep the services operating. Instead DBC gritted roads and paths and even kept bin collections going. The bin lorries were negotiating smaller roads with steep hills very well.
Within reason, it's not the weather that brings an area to a halt, it's the capabilities of a borough council and who guides it, I feel.
