MPs (up until all the st hit the fan) have gradually learnt that they can milk the expenses system more than they used to. My mates dad used to be a Labour MP and didnt used to get fck all expenses up until about 5 years ago when he got money thrown at him to cover himself...
I bow to your superior knowledge.

TV personalities - don't need ANY talent whatsoever to be on TV Now.
Because Windsor Davies, John Inman and Mike Yarwood (to name but three) were just oozing talent, weren't they?

Footballers - less skill, much more money.
I know the square root of bugger all about Association Football but, ridiculous wages aside, is Wayne Rooney any less skilfull than George Best or Stanley Matthews were?

I'd happily watch Windsor Davies, John Inman and Mike Yarwood over Any of the utterwkers that present/have been on TV Shows recently:

Russell Brand, Dic and Dom, Chris Moyles, Davina Mccall to name but a few...

not sure on the football subject, i'll let you have that one !

Ah, but these "jobs" haven't really changed, have they?

Our perception of them and the amount of meedya attention they get has, however.
I thought of footballer too - obviously the pay has gone up enormously but then so has the pressure, number of games played etc.

Being a main dealer car "mechanic" must be pretty easy these days? Plug a laptop in and shrug.

i always think of big things on old hills, like old electricity pylons, where everything would have to be carted up by hand, maybe a horse, and built somewhere really awkward.

Binmen, sorry refuse collectors (or should that be refuse collections) have it a lot easier now than my dad did in the 60's and early 70's.
They certainly refuse to collect my st if I don't close the lid properly.

Anyway, on topic, mining.
