You fail.

With a bit of luck, we will be making an addition to the family next week in the shape of a lively rescue GSD bh - and if she arrives, she's going to need a name.

It has to start with "D" - MrsC's rules for pets are that they have to have names alliterative to their type, so starting with D for dogs, M for mice, etc etc.

I'm stuck between Difflock and Distributor at the moment; the alternative being human names, so Doris is quite high up the list.

Fire away (and no, we won't be calling her Deefer.....)

Did anyone say 'Disco' yet?

All my last litter of Belgian Shepherd Dogs had pedigree names containing cars beginning with the letter 'D'

We had...

Discovery
Defender
Delta (Integrale)
Daytona (the one I kept myself smile )
Dart (as in Daimler - Mum & Dad's dog)
Diablo
Daimler

The next litter (hopefully due in April/May) will all be named after cars beginning with 'E' - so that will be the entire Lotus range then wink

You have of course considered keeping the name the dog already has.

Imagine you start a new job and the idiot in personel tells your manager to expect a new hire on Monday called Albert.
It would not intstill confidence in the new outfit you have just joined and you may start to think that this was not such a good move.
(Jeez, they can't even get my name right.)

The dog may think the same way about you.
Ok, I did want to get adopted, but maybe coming to the front of the cage and wagging my tail as we are told to do before assessing this prospective owner was a bit rash in retrospect.

Dolby....... just buy a bag of treats, he won't caresmile

I used to know a jrt called Dammit. The owner was called Janet.
There is a line in Rocky Horror Picture Show where someone says 'Damn it Janet' what a way to pick a dogs name smile

Brilliant idea - thanks!

One tiny snag there, though. The dog was found in a pound in Wales and was scheduled to be put down last week. A charity organisation managed to get her out before that happened, but they didn't *quite* find the time to locate the previous owner and check names, favourite food, collect her comfort blanket, etc - so I guess we're just going to have to do the best we can, unless of course she can miraculously speak and is able to remember her own name.
