I am looking at renting somewhere in Warrington and was wondering if anyone know of any particularly good areas, I'd be commuting to Liverpool every day so that leave Stockton Heath/etc out due to them being the other side of the town and congestion.

Also, I've never rented a house on my own before (Always shared)... How much is a good house in that area PCM and can you negotiate rents with estate agents?

I'd also need a garage, seen some places for around £600 PCM in Great Sankey that seem to fit the bill.

Any thoughts?

Great Sankey is okay.

You could travel a bit further and consider Penketh, even some parts of Widnes are fine too.

You could also consider Winwick.

All good for the M62.

Thanks, the A562 is a better road for me going into Liverpool (I work around the Airport area)

I know Warrington gets a lot of bad press but I find it ok, as long as it has a garage for my Motorbike and isn't really really 'dog on a string' rough then I don't mine smile

I'm from Culcheth originally but that might be too villagey for you eventhough its quite big.

My mate lives in Birchwood about 1/2 mile from Risley and finds it ok.

Its very close to the motorway amd there's the shopping centre close by.

The houses are a bit packed in as most newish build is but he has had no problems with anti social behaviour or thefts.

Rent is pretty cheap as well. 1/2 bed houses for about £400-450 pcm.

I've seen quite a few 'Coach Houses' advertised that look very nice outside, anyone have experience of them?

The place is actually for me and my girlfriend, she works in Warrington town centre so we'd like to be closeish, but we'd both like to avoid the traffic, she works at times that Warrington is very congested, and I tend to work from around 10am, and I ride a motorcycle so traffic is no object to me biggrin

If she is town centre and you don't care, I would say be on the South side of the M62, miss that traffic. Shame my house is rented, haha it's in the right spot....Hmm, Northside of Orford is best location but bit/quite rough in areas, or Houghton Green, thats between Padgate and Winwick and nice and villagely.. Birch avenue is nice, it's still classed as Winwick on Winwick road but on the right side of the 62.

Callands is quite ok (well when compaired to Awfull orford wink )
Most of Penketh is nice if you want the Widnes end, there are some new houses over by the Tip, there are a load of rented properties on there (off Liverpool Road)

That looks nice smile

Is it unreasonable to look for a Furnished Place with a Garage for that money? I've no idea if £600 is a big or small budget for the area...

I've got a mate who lives in Great Sankey, seems like a really nice area & it doesn't take long to get onto the motorway. I once got home to Liverpool (15 miles away) in 15 minutes when the roads were clear

I live about a mile towards town from there and work in the town centre. The traffic to get into town from that direction can be awful, during the winter it can take me 40 minutes to get to work. Having said that it's pretty bad from any direction, so not sure it makes much odds really!

The area is fine though - typical modern developments so a bit packed in and not hugely exciting, but I've never had any trouble here.
