I'll take a look, thanks!

As single minded as it is, I automatically get images of chavvy estates full of scroungers when I think 'New build'... Am I right or are some of them actually good? :/

Great Sankey is okay.

You could travel a bit further and consider Penketh, even some parts of Widnes are fine too.

You could also consider Winwick.

All good for the M62.
+1 for Great Sankey. I've had family living on Sycamore Lane for the last 30 years, and that end does not seem to have been overrun by chavs and scrotes. It is 5 minutes from the new (ish) M62 junction by Ikea, 10 minutes to Bank Quay, and a few minutes to the Liverpool Rd through Penketh.
The new places at Chapelford Village look quite nice as well, and are a bit more rural/upmarket. I'm told that there are some very good rental deals in there as well with plenty of unsold/unoccupied new builds.

Be cautious of being too close to the very approriately named Hood Manor though.

Another for Great Sankey (WA5?). Friend lives not far from the David Lloyd Sports Centre. Easy commute to Airport area.

The rush-hour traffic in Warrington is a nightmare, so i'd suggest somewhere near a train-line. Newton-le-Willows has great rail access and is a nice place with some great restaurants, and 5 minutes from the M62.

Plus you'll be near to a PH'er thumbup

Have a look on Rightmove. If there's any particular property you're interested in and you want me to do a drive-by just let me know.

Thanks for the offer smile My better half lives in Warrington at the moment so it's not too much of a bother to go and look.

I'm not worried about me getting into work, it's an easy drive/ride along the A562 at the times of day that I go, I don't think she'll have problems in traffic from that end of Warrington, as apparently the main places of congestion are Winwick Rd and the like smile

I live in Sankey, took me 30 minutes to get to work (Centre Park, just south of the town centre and Bridgefoot roundabout) this morning and that's pretty typical for term time.

Would anyone go for a house like this?

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/proper...

The street looks pretty nice

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a...

But they said the property needs some TLC?

Driveway is massive though, we have 2 cars and a motorbike between us.

How long are you staying for? The house looks ok, but the decoration wouldn't be to my taste. And if you're renting I guess you can't start ripping wardrobes out and redecorating the place?

I've just read the advert a bit more, and it seems they're essentially saying "Yeah it needs decorating, you can come in and do that and pay for it". Cheeky bds!

I imagine it'd be long term, yeah that's what I thought, my girlfriend thought we might be able to absolutely batter the price down though, The interior really is horrible though.

Callands is reasonably nice, if a little bit 'new build': http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/proper...

Aye I saw that one, I think it's going to be quite hard not to get a new build for our budget really (600PCM odd)

I need a garage though really, I hate keeping my bike outside frown

Shame about the garage, as this one looks nice. Culcheth is a nice village, you could wake up on a Sunday morning and stroll in for a nice breakfast and coffee outside. I don't think you could really do that in Warrington.

Does it have an easy route into Warrington in the morning though? Traffic can be terrible in certain parts frown

The traffic from north of Warrington in to town in rush hour is horrific, granted. I recommended Newton-le-Willows in an earlier post because it has great rail links into Warrington/Manchester/Liverpool, as well as being a nice area with good pubs and restaurants. Not quite as nice as Culcheth, though.

Going to look at some places in Great Sankey, thanks, also saw a nice Bungalow in Thelwall but the area is probably a bit too 'old' for us smile
