Have we been allowed to celebrate St Georges day by the P.C Gestapo? God forbid we should upset any of our friends from outside England.

We're drinking to the day here in Singapore. Only the Brits from the office are allowed! 12.30pm, and the beer is flowing. Hic....

Have a great day, we are off to the St George's ball this evening to see the band of the Royal Marines, should be a cracker! Bearing in mind they only landed yesterday at 7am due volcano based delays.

Hmmm.

St Patricks day - Radio 2 mentions this fact every 5 fking minutes.

St Georges day - not a peep about this on Radio 2.

Maybe it doesn't fit into the BBC's agenda??

Happy St Georges day everyone!!!

It was mention a few times too on Radio 2, but lets not let any facts get in the way of a rant.

Moyles was doing his usual rant about the way that it is now ok to fly any flag you like in the UK as long as it isn't your own one ..and that every other country has a bankholiday yet us here are all at work today as usual

Great Britain eh

I'm all up for the idea of having a 'Let's celebrate being English' day, I'm as patriotic as the next chap, but it does rankle with me a bit that we're supposed to celebrate some Palestinian who never came to England and whom we have to share with Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia. I wouldn't mind but he never even killed any bloody dragon, either.

Can't we even have our own English hero figurehead to celebrate an England day? I'd rather celebrate a King Arthur Day, myself.

James Whale was mentioning it all this week, he was having a phone in on why we dont celebrate it. I was pleased to hear he said it should be a national holiday smile It does get my goat why its not celebrated though. Last year we went out on St Georges day, one of the Irish girls said how she didnt like it because of the English history. I pointed out she lives in England and why doesnt she have a go at the Germans in the office for their history moan silly

Sure? as Arthur was with all probability a Welshman or a Borderer, depending on what theory you follow. Would have spoken old welsh , gaelic or brythony....

Whatever happy St Georges day to all you Anglos.....
