We're drinking to the day here in Singapore. Only the Brits from the office are allowed! 12.30pm, and the beer is flowing. Hic....
Same as that in Frankfurt. I feel somewhat more passionate about it, whilst in another country.Happy St Georges Day Everyone
Being English is far more than just where exactly where your exact geneology lies , very few of us can claim to be descended from the original Brits (Beaker People of Stonehenge) it's where your loyalties lie , we are a melting pot of Saxons , Celts , Normans , Vikings etc , to quote someone "it's our differences that make us more valid". Be proud of our collective Englishness.

I'm all up for the idea of having a 'Let's celebrate being English' day, I'm as patriotic as the next chap, but it does rankle with me a bit that we're supposed to celebrate some Palestinian who never came to England and whom we have to share with Aragon, Catalonia, England, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia. I wouldn't mind but he never even killed any bloody dragon, either.
Can't we even have our own English hero figurehead to celebrate an England day? I'd rather celebrate a King Arthur Day, myself.
Depends which legend you believe. Some say he was born in Coventry. Can't we even have our own English hero figurehead to celebrate an England day? I'd rather celebrate a King Arthur Day, myself.
Allrite ahrr?

Nothing in the media about St. George. Is this a sign of the guilt-ridden PC times we live in?
Anyway... Have a great St. George's day.
This is so boring... What media have you read/listened to today?Anyway... Have a great St. George's day.
I've seen it in newspapers, on the TV and heard it on the radio. Clearly you're either not paying attention, or looking to misguidedly fulfil some non-existent "anti-PC" rant.
Please stop, now.
Frankly, if we Brits weren't such a bunch of self-obsessed cynics, then celebrating something like this would be a lot easier. Instead, people prefer to moan about how they can't celebrate (or rather that people celebrate St Paddy's day more). It's tedious, and predictably British.

(Paddy's day only gets all its publicity due to a massive marketing effort from Guinness)
Something that isn't possible for English beers as there are so many of them. I guess it would be a bit un-PC for English breweries to club together and promote St Georges Day as "Drink for England day!. ewenm said:
