"The sights you see when you haven't got a gun" - usually directed at particularly unattractive women in very short skirts and too much make-up.

"What's bred in the bone comes out in the blood" - meaning you are what your family makes you.

Both attributable to my great granny, a rosy-cheeked, eighty a day smoker who loved tripe and gin and still made it 89 before she popped her clogs.

And she always wore a diamond brooch on her pinny - class.

We train young men to drop fire on people. But their commanders won't allow them to write "f**k" on their airplanes because? It's obscene!

Bloody hell, I always take my gin with tonic

Never tried it with tripe, but I suppose you should never rule anything out. Lemon sorbet with vodka's nice - I guess it might be a bit similar?

Vaguely car related.

"When the flag drops the bullsh*t stops"

("When the lights go out the bullsh*t stops" does not
sound quite the same and probably has a completely
different meaning!)

And from Apocalypse now....

"I love the smell of Napalm in the morning"

Alan Greenspan (chairman of the US federal reserve)
in response to a debate on the economy with a US senator.

"I know you beleive you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realise what you heard is not what I meant".

This tends to stop conversations dead, so I have taught this to my 10 year old nephew as a way of getting him out of trouble.
