Well...you don't look very legitimate Sir.
Firstly, why do you sign the email as "Richard Kentford", but your email says "Richard Monje"?
And who is Silvia??

Hello Silvia,

Thanks for your patronage. The apartment is available for the dates chosen.( Fri 29 October, with check out on Sun 7)I am quite sure that this is arguably one of the best apartment you can get around at this reduced rate. I cannot guarantee the hold of the apartment until booked and paid for it..You are required to pay of the total rental fee and a Refundable security fee of $200:00 to enable me hold the apartment for you,as there is rush for the apartment at this time. The apartment is $235:00 per night and for the 9 nights you intend to stay which is $2,115...

All you have to do to hold the apartment is to pay 50% fee which is $1,057:50 plus the Refundable Security Fee which is $200:00. which will be giving back to you on the day you departing from the apartment, Once you have made the payment I will issue you a receipt confirming your payments. The payment can be made via Bank to Bank Account Transfer...

If you are still interested ,Then Get back to me as soon as possible so that I will send you our booking form and agreement to you to fill.and send us your flight details we will come and pick you at the Airport without any charges...
Best Regards

Yes, and keep us frequently updated please. It's got to be a better read than that other thread where the conspiracy debate is once again raging about the collapse of CockWomble7 wink

Probably not e-mail back, unless you want to confirm to them that your e-mail address is a working one?

Edit - too late....

"Sorry Richard. Your original email made you sound like a complete scammer. I know you probably aren't a scammer trying to scam anyone, but you must admit, an unsolicited email offering a 'great deal' is normally a scam. Have you ever been scammed before, or been party to a scam? Well, it's been pleasure talking to you but I have to scram now. Stay scam free!"

try

''Sorry Richard my email went to the wrong person, what I wanted to say to you is that... well... I love you Richard, it's hard in this world when two soul mates find it difficult to express their true feelings.
E-mail is such an poor way to communicate such emotion Richard but it is all I have here in prison. Will you be my pen friend?''

or something else.

This.....what you are doing is a pointless exercise, akin to keeping a cold caller on hold.

You gain nothing and the scammer factors muppets like this into his daily life of scam.

Hello Matrignano,
Well your apology is being granted for the fact that i have gone through a lot of insults like this.Well what will you like to know more about this apartment. The only method of payments we accept is the Bank to bank transfer in which is more safer for the both sides. It's much more traceable anytime there's any problem,Guido i do understand what you think, but mind you, we have been rip off before, base on PayPal,she did send us PayPal confirmation, she move in,and she stayed in the apt for 9days in hope of that PayPal will release the money for us,she departure without informing us due to that we don't accept PayPal again, the right owner of this apt will only accept A Bank to bank transfer. Kindly let me know if you are still interested because others were willing to get this apt,i will be waiting to read from you,but if l don't hear within 48 hours i will give the apt out,you can also call me on my cell.Hope to hear from you soon.If you are ready to book with us then I will send you our Booking and Agreement form to confirm the days you chose to stay in the apartment.Once you have made the payment. I will issue you a receipt confirming your payments.

Best Regards

I do apologise profusely for wrongly accusing you. Your reply was so prompt that I though it came from a computer, as no human being can be this quick! And I was surprised that you replied at 5am EST time, that is a very early start of the day!

If you are ready to accept my apologies and make a fresh start, I would like to rent your apartment, which looks wonderful.
Please could you send me further details on your preferred payment method?

I've seen that! Hence my reinforced belief that he is a scammer indeed.

To be honest it's not a completely unsolicited email - I replied to an ad on Craigslits as I'm looking for a flat to rent for a holiday in NYC.
I received his reply in the space of 2 min, and it was approx. 5am NY time when he replied!
