Multi-blade razors
Discussion
After watching the New Bond film last night and seeing him use a a cut throat it has made me want to give this another try. I was brought a few disposable ones last xmas and tired with one a couple of times but it's all a little scary for me, but I think that tomorrow morning might be time to get it another whirl!
So. First shave done. I used the Derby blades as the feather scared me.
No tugging, which is a first for me.
Only suffered two life threatening cuts though.
Then i applied the alum block. My god. Don't do this on open cuts, it really hurts. it also tastes really, really bad but face felt super clean after it.
Did two passes and slthough not baby smooth the shave was considerably better. We'll see if there's any irritation tomorrow.

Woohoo. It's sad that I'm this excited about shaving stuff.
Feathers are the business! I love them, well worth the extra money for me I feel.I tried a few different methods for shaving but settled on 'Kyles Method' and it leaves your skin feeling great.
You can easily google kyles method but it's a pass with the grain, a pass across the grain and a pass against the grain. I always use a hot facecloth then relather between passes.

I've now got stubble and an electric trimmer - but it's the same thing. The rechargeable battery won't hold charge, and you can't get replacements.
I have gone through a pair of clippers a year for ages now. Even the expensive ones fail pretty fast, WAHL, Babyliss, Remington... either the motors burn out or the battery dies, or worse yet the clippers work fine but the bloody variable-length plastic attachment breaks so you're limited to grade 0 or nothing. Highly annoying. Beard seems to get me more chicks anyway. NDA said:

Just back from bond. Thought I'd test the nerd levels of ph.
Anybody able to name the brush / soup / razor he uses in the new film?
Is it Bachelors soup?Anybody able to name the brush / soup / razor he uses in the new film?
Only 3rd time of trying. One little cut.
Happy with the result. Nice and close on my neck.
My KoS Azor wont' hold on to the head anymore, so as I'm shaving they stick to my face. Must have happened 15 times last shave (few days growth). It was a little concerning, especially trying to put a slippy 5 bladed head back onto a crap handle.
So, rather than go out throw loads of money at a plastic horrible thing, I thought I might try a proper shave. So, what's good for a newbie? I'd need the lot, on a budget!

I'm sick of my Mach 3 only lasting 1 or 2 shaves, so have decided to see if this will work out cheaper in the long run...
Had a read through: http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
And have bought the following:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0012Y1FCK
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003WR3QSG
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001XPHA0E
If it all works out I'll upgrade to a better razor at some point, figured I could still use the brush if it didn't work out so could spend a bit more. All in all it was under £20 with next day delivery (thanks Amazon Prime).

Tell you what brother monkey, pm me your name and address and I'll let you have an old Gillette tech that I've got hanging around. Needs a little clean but in perfect working order. I'll even chuck in some blades. All you need to do then is pop down Boots and pick yourself up a cheap brush and a tube of Palmolive shave cream and you're good to go. At least you've not wasted a lot of money if it doesn't work out. So, rather than go out throw loads of money at a plastic horrible thing, I thought I might try a proper shave. Here's a question for you.
As pictured i'm using Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood soap.
I have a little stainless bowl that i use, it's actually too small but it will do for now.
Up until writing this message i've been scopping a litle bit of soap out and putting it into the bowl and then getting the lather going. This feels wrong?

Personally I face lather. No bowl.As pictured i'm using Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood soap.

Just wet brush and shake off excess water, stir round on top of soap for a while, apply vigorously to face.
For more lather start with a wetter brush, for thicker lather stir brush around on top of soap for longer.
With tubs of cream do much the same, without the stirring. With tubes of cream put a bit on my hand and pick it up with the brush.
