It is good for the price and cuts really well, only one or two passes needed to trim a good lock away, but be careful, on the second pass I nicked the clit an it don't arf bleed.
You knicked what?

It’s the fashion these days for women to shave their pubes off...

Must admit I don’t see the point of a shaving bowl. Face lathering is one less step.

I put a new retractable washing line up in the garden and a wall mounted cleat to keep the line tight. I told Mrs Robbo that she needed to wrap the line around the cleat, she looked shocked.

Should have known a thread on DE razors would be on PH.

Sick of the my Gilleette fusion blades blunting so quickly considering the price. Fed up of all the plastic and annoying packaging. The 5 blades also seem to block.

I started looking around for alternatives. After lots of research (except here) just bought the following:

R89 MÜHLE Chrome Safety Razor
Geo F Trumper Black Pure Badger Bristle Shaving Brush
Taylor of Old Bond Street Cedarwood Shaving Cream Bowl
VOSKHOD TEFLON COATED DE RAZOR BLADES

Thoughts? If I have made a mistake I will just send them back.

Sounds good to me although personally I wouldn't buy a badger brush because of the horrific badger farming practices in China. Bodyshop sell an excellent synthetic brish for £8

A very good source for shaving products is Agent Shave

https://agentshave.co.uk/

I can recommend the Cella shaving cream, most blades are pretty good, the most easily available on the High Street is Wilkinson, but they are quite mild, the Sainsburys own brand blade is £2 for 10 and are very good,

I have the blades in stock as I bought another multipack of various makes but I haven't used them yet. I can't comment on the rest other then Muhle seems to be a good maker. Not much help, sorry, but I think you'll be fine. Just take your time as I did and it will become easier, though I cut myself today through haste. Do not use any pressure and let the razor do the work.

I also would not buy badger or boar unless you want to support Chinese farms where animal welfare is unheard of.

Latest blades bought:

Agree re the badger - go synthetic. Personnas are a nice blade for the 89.

thanks gents

will rethink the brush - Ian Fleming was a fan of Trumper and I am on a heritage vibe when it comes to grooming and clothing currently (e.g. sunspel). I like badgers though !

Vie Long Horsehair brush is an option, works for me after a similar dilemma.

I highly recommend the Razorock Bruce synthetic brush - way better than my expensive Simpson, Omega and EJ badger bushes.

FWIW, I've recently bought a couple of cheap razors; the new Wilkinson Sword Classic and the King C Gillette. The WS doesn't suit me, quite harsh (not aggressive) but have only shaved with it once (much prefer the old black plastic Classic). The King C is great, really enjoying it - a little more aggressive than a DE89 but nowhere near an R41 - somewhere about the Executive Shaving Braveheart.

If you want to buy from Trumper Brothers they also sell synthetic brushes. An overlooked item is a shaving brush stand, Trumpers sell one for £5.50, this allows the brush to drain free of water between shaves.

Mine was my most expensive item:

Lovely to use, and aesthetically, but the handle is so heavy it squirrels off the brush stand given half a chance smile

By the way.

It is refreshing to see so many posters having respect for the opinions and preferences of others without argument or contradiction.

RR Big Bruce is a fabulous brush. I much prefer it to any badger I've tried.

Morning guys, like a lot of others I hadn’t realised how bad a thing badger brushes are, been using a Proraso boar hair one for a few years now & it’s like the old laws & sausages adage I’m not sure I want to know how they’re made.

On the subject of bowls above, Giles Shaving has some reasonably priced offerings: click.
I don't have one yet, but they're quite popular on the wet shaving facebook group.

So after reading the thread and watching many YouTube videos (geofatboy) I have pulled the trigger and got:

Edwin Jagger DE89L
Personna platinum blades
Proraso Sensitive shaving shop
Proraso omega boar shaving brush
Proraso shaving mug

Sounds like it is the unofficial starter kit so will report back with how I get on.

Any recommendations for a razor stand for the bathroom and a razor case for travelling?

Cheers all.
